Join us for a satellite meeting of the 2026 International Congress for Neuroethology in Vancouver, entitled “Neuroethology in a Changing World.”, organized by Stefan Pulver, Wolfgang Stein, and Martin Tresguerres.
Our satellite meeting will bring together neuroethologists, neurobiologists, ecologists, and environmental scientists to explore how rapid environmental change is reshaping the neural systems of animals, their behavior, and the ecosystems that sustain life.
The meeting will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the UBC Campus in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Earth Sciences Building 1012).
Our program will feature talks organized around four themes, with the following confirmed speakers:
Monitoring the Environment Across Scales
• Martin Tresguerres, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD & ADC-NiCE
• Alison Bell, UIUC
• Rebecca Senior, Durham University
Genetic Adaptations underlying Neural Control of Behaviour
• Andrew Whitehead, UC Davis
• Joshua Rosenthal, Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole
• Rose Tatarsky, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD & ADC-NiCE
Molecular and physiological mechanisms of neural responses to environmental changes
• Dario Campagner, Sainsbury Wellcome Centre, UCL
• Sanjay Sane, National Centre for Biological Sciences, India
• Wolfgang Stein, Illinois State University
Advocacy and Change making
• Stefan Pulver, University of St Andrews
• Andrea Adden, Crick Institute
• Shannon Olsson Echo Network
In between sessions, there will be 5-minute Data Blitz talks (anyone can apply for a slot – see below).
We aim to create a meeting of strong interest to core ISN members while also attracting researchers and advocates who may not typically attend ICN meetings. The satellite meeting is designed to highlight both fundamental research and real-world impact, and also addresses how scientists can engage with society in meaningful ways.
In addition, we have a free workshop on Sunday morning (July 26th, 9am - 12pm) that we co-organize with the Kavli Foundation Science and Society Branch, with free breakfast and discussions about Neuroethology in a Changing World. We hope that most people who participate in our Satellite Symposium on Saturday would also come to the Sunday morning event, but the event is open to everyone.
Our sponsors are The Kavli Foundation, The Grass Foundation, and Thorlabs.
We hope you will join us in Vancouver for this timely and interdisciplinary event.
To register for our Satellite meeting, please go the ICN 2026 website and look for the “Neuroethology in a Changing World.” Symposium. The price is $70 CAN but it includes breakfast, lunch, and a reception. https://icn2026vancouver.com/satellite-symposia/
If you or your lab members or colleagues want to present a data blitz 5 min talk, please let them know to fill out this form:
