The Skin Cancer Center will be closed Monday, 1/26. Our office will be in contact for rescheduling purposes.

If you need stitches removed and would like to come in tomorrow, Dr. Bigbie will be in office from 1-2 pm and can take care of you at that time. Otherwise, we can get you rescheduled for stitch removal.

Wow Wednesday!

This patient had a large basal cell carcinoma on the left chin that we removed with Mohs surgery. We were able to use a double rotation flap to close the defect (figure 3) with amazing results shown in figure 4.

As a Mohs surgeon, we are often able to hide scars in areas of natural facial folds. In this case, we were able to neatly tuck the sutures into what is called the nasolabial fold. The results shown at the patient’s 1 week suture removal reveal a barely perceptible scar which will be invisible at her 3 month follow-up appointment!

Flap Friday!

Here is another great example. This patient was gracious enough to allow the photos to be shared of this excellent result. This tumor was just above the eyebrow. Any repair on the forehead must prioritize the eyebrow position in the closure. We advanced the forehead skin from the lateral aspect of the wound, allowing for eyebrow position to remain unchanged, and the scar is imperceptible in a few months as shown in Figure 4.
