Kenneth Stein, PA-C has over 20 years of experience with both Pediatric and Adult ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) medicine. He is a skilled diagnostician. In addition to routinely providing medical treatment for ENT problems, he is adept at multiple office procedures and minor office surgeries, assuring affordable and easy access to proper ENT specialty care.

ORTHOPEDICS:🦿
Breaks, sprains and other orthopedic injuries are all too common – especially in children. We partner with Oklahoma City Orthopedics Sports and Pain Medicine to see our patients weekly on-site and to keep an orthopedic surgeon on call.

PEDIATRIC CARE:👶🏼
Mandy Brown, APRN, CNP sees pediatric patients in Moore. She has provided health care from birth and up in a family practice setting for 21 years.

Rosi Rios, PA-C sees pediatric patients in both Noble and Norman. She is bilingual - fluently speaking English and Spanish.
With experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, and more than five years in pediatric primary care, she is dedicated to delivering care to children from infancy through adolescence.

🔥☀️It's hot! Some medications can cause you significant problems during hot weather. Please stay safe!

✅ Those who are elderly, children, pregnant, those who have disabilities, or who take medications for chronic conditions can be at higher risk for heat illness: monitor yourself for signs such as feeling dizzy, fatigued, or thirsty. See your health care provider if feeling ill.
✅ Make sure you have access to a cool place to rest. Drink non-alcoholic fluids regularly, though follow your doctor’s guidelines — drinking large amounts of plain water in a short amount of time can be dangerous due to the risk of electrolyte imbalance in some people.
✅ Avoid over-exertion.
✅ Staying in frequent contact with family or other caregivers can be lifesaving.
✅ Talk to your health care provider for questions.

How does this happen? A few ways that some medications can cause heat sensitivity:
• Reduced thirst sensation
• Interference with central thermoregulation
• Impaired sweating
• Impaired ability to dissipate heat
• Electrolyte imbalance
• Sedation or cognitive impairment
• Increased sensitivity of the skin to the sun.

In addition, heat exposure may damage medication delivery devices and may degrade medications. Inhalers, for example, can burst in hot environments. EpiPens may malfunction or deliver less epinephrine when exposed to heat. Insulin, which should be stored in a refrigerator, may become less effective if left in the heat.

In Oklahoma, 56 cases of an intestinal illness called cyclosporiasis with 6 resulting hospitalizations have been confirmed by the OK State Department of Health. The illness has been reported in dozens of states across the U.S., sickening thousands of people. A source has not yet been determined, and multiple sources may be the cause.

✅Cyclosporiasis is a diarrheal illness caused by a single-celled parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis and is spread by consumption of food or water contaminated with f***l matter from infected individuals.

✅Cyclospora is not known to be spread person-to-person via direct contact.

✅Cyclospora infection is often asymptomatic, but when symptoms occur, they may include watery (and possibly explosive) diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, bloating, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, and fatigue. Weight loss can be significant, exceeding 20 pounds in some cases.

✅Infected patients may have a single self-limited episode or a prolonged
waxing and waning course lasting weeks to months. Symptoms begin an average of seven days after ingestion of the parasite (range of 2-14 days) and may last from several days to several weeks.

✅Treatment includes trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and rehydration with fluids.
Prevention tips

✅Prevention: Note: The only way to eliminate the parasite from produce is by cooking it at a temperature of 158 degrees Fahrenheit.

👐Wash hands with soap and water before and after handling or preparing raw fruits and vegetables.
🫛Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water before eating, cutting, or cooking.
🥦It is important to thoroughly wash produce even if it is labeled as pre-washed.
🥒Scrub firm fruits and vegetables, such as melons and cucumbers, with a clean produce brush.
🍓Cut away any damaged or bruised areas on fruits and vegetables before preparing and eating.
🥶Refrigerate cut, peeled, or cooked fruits and vegetables as soon as possible (within two hours).
