This makes so much sense. Time for change.

France renewed its emergency ban on fresh cherry imports from countries—including the United States—that allow the use of a potent insecticide.

In 2019, French authorities cited serious public health concerns with the use of dimethoate in the U.S., warning that toxic chemical residues on imported fruit from the country could pose an unacceptable risk to consumers. As a result, they blocked U.S. cherries from entering the country.

This unilateral blockade reflects a broader philosophical divide in global food regulation: while the European Union heavily relies on the precautionary principle to restrict substances until they are proven safe, the United States often prioritizes market efficiency and maximum yields, taking action only after harm is irrefutably demonstrated.

This regulatory gap exposes a systemic flaw in modern U.S. farming.

Today's agricultural systems are optimized for high yields, minimal crop loss, and cheap food, yet they frequently ignore the downstream costs of chemical exposure, biodiversity loss, and long-term health risks.

Compounding the issue is an economic loop where the same conglomerates manufacturing harmful agricultural chemicals also develop the pharmaceuticals used to treat chronic human diseases. Resolving this crisis requires shifting beyond regulatory battles to actively design sustainable food systems that incentivize farmers to produce abundant, healthy food without relying on toxic inputs.

Catnip essential oil (Nepeta cataria) has some fascinating properties that make it a unique addition to your aromatherapy pantry.

Here's what you should know:

A natural mosquito deterrent – Research suggests catnip essential oil may be effective at repelling mosquitoes, making it an interesting option for outdoor blends.

Steam distilled – The essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the plant's leaves and flowering tops.

Rich in beneficial constituents – Catnip contains nepetalactones and β-caryophyllene, compounds that contribute to its distinctive aroma and therapeutic profile.

May help ease muscle tension – Traditionally, catnip essential oil has been valued for its potential antispasmodic properties.

Promotes relaxation – Some people find its herbaceous aroma calming and relaxing, making it a thoughtful choice for winding down after a busy day.

Be here now…

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
—Winnie the Pooh

Take a moment today to find some of these small things and simply appreciate.

This is living in gratitude. One of the Reiki principles, a fundamental belief. A foundation to build life around.

And when we pay attention, look out for and notice the good stuff. We see more and more. Our attention is drawn to it.

And appreciation becomes our default.

Doesn’t mean the sh*tty stuff disappears. It’s all part of life. But it does mean we don’t let 💩 become our default setting.

Big love 💕
