Sandstone Care

Sandstone Care Certified Treatment Centers For Addiction and Mental Health helping teens, young adults, and their families.

Sandstone Care specializes in youth addiction & substance abuse treatment in Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, the DC area, and virtually online. We believe in providing an evidence-based, integrated treatment program for adolescents and young adults that is customized for the needs of each individual client. We apply today’s most effective treatment methods that not only address any teenage substance

abuse issues but also treat any underlying mental health conditions. We’ve found that with a younger population, it is critical to focus on the client’s entire ecosystem, so we require the involvement of the full community, including interactive sessions with family members, peers, mentors, teachers, and coaches.

Because progress isn't always linear, and you don't have to navigate it alone.

Many teens and young adults aren’t refusing help because they “don’t care.”

Sometimes they’re overwhelmed, guarded, distrustful, or unsure how to explain what they’re feeling.

Motivational Interviewing challenges us to stop pushing harder and start listening differently.

This training explores how clinicians and providers can create safer, more collaborative conversations that support autonomy, trust, and lasting behavioral change. Because feeling understood can change everything.

LGBTQ+ youth face disproportionately higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Research consistently shows that acceptance, affirmation, and supportive environments can significantly improve mental health outcomes.

Mental health providers, schools, employers, and families all play a role in creating spaces where young people feel safe to be themselves.

At Sandstone Care, affirming care isn't a specialty, it's part of how we approach every client relationship.

Relationships are at the heart of healing.

Recently, Sandstone Care's CARE Institute hosted two trainings exploring the connection between attachment, trauma, and addiction, and how clinicians can help clients rebuild safety, trust, and connection.

In Boulder, CO, Brenda Velissaris, LPC, and Amanda Wroblewski, LCSW, presented "The Intersection of Attachment Trauma and Addiction: Implications for Treatment." In Richmond, VA, Deborah Lawton led "Attachment Trauma: Theory and Implications for Treatment" in collaboration with AMFM.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in advancing compassionate, trauma-informed care.
