Sandstone Care

Sandstone Care Certified Treatment Centers For Addiction and Mental Health helping teens, young adults, and their families.

Sandstone Care specializes in youth addiction & substance abuse treatment in Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, the DC area, and virtually online. We believe in providing an evidence-based, integrated treatment program for adolescents and young adults that is customized for the needs of each individual client. We apply today’s most effective treatment methods that not only address any teenage substance

abuse issues but also treat any underlying mental health conditions. We’ve found that with a younger population, it is critical to focus on the client’s entire ecosystem, so we require the involvement of the full community, including interactive sessions with family members, peers, mentors, teachers, and coaches.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈
At Sandstone Care, we believe that healing happens in spaces where people feel safe, respected, and empowered to be themselves. This month (and all year round), we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to providing inclusive, compassionate care for every individual who walks through our doors.

We honor the courage it takes to live authentically, advocate for equity, and support one another through life's challenges and triumphs.

You are valued. You are welcome. You belong.

When you are looking for treatment for yourself, or someone you love, you have one question:

“Will this actually work?”

That’s where outcomes come in. Outcomes help show what clients report during treatment, including changes in their symptoms, and their connection with their treatment team.

But outcomes only matter when they are measured honestly, explained clearly, and reviewed carefully.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing our findings from the Sandstone Care annual outcomes report, so you can see for yourself the difference that treatment can make in your life.

Teens and emerging adults often want support, even when they struggle to express it.

Motivational Interviewing helps clinicians and care providers move beyond confrontation and toward collaborative, trust-centered conversations that support growth and change.

In residential settings, adolescent identity (especially around sexuality) can shift alongside complex trauma responses and recovery. This CE event dives into how CPTSD and substance use influence expression, and how providers can respond with clarity and care.

You’ll walk away with tools to:
• Recognize underlying behavioral patterns
• Understand identity within the context of complex trauma
• Create inclusive, adaptable programming

Because meeting youth where they are starts with understanding what’s beneath the surface.

Teen anxiety often shows up quietly, avoiding school, irritability, trouble sleeping, or withdrawing from family and friends.

Support starts with listening, validating emotions, and creating space for honest conversations without judgment. If your family is navigating anxiety, know you don’t have to do it alone.

Burnout is more than feeling stressed or tired after a long week.

Over time, chronic emotional exhaustion can affect your mental health, relationships, motivation, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

Recognizing the signs early can help you take meaningful steps toward support and recovery. If any of these feel familiar, you’re not alone, and support is available.

A huge thank you to Dr. Lindsey Romero for leading last Thursday’s CE training event in Englewood, CO, presented by the CARE Institute! We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn from her expertise as she guided attendees through a review of ASAM Criteria for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and shared practical strategies for selecting the appropriate level of care for safe, effective patient placement.

From outpatient services to withdrawal management, this session provided valuable clinical insight into navigating the full continuum of care for individuals experiencing AUD. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an engaging afternoon of learning and discussion!

Watching someone you love struggle with addiction or mental health challenges can feel overwhelming. An intervention is a carefully planned way to encourage support, connection, and access to care.

Our latest blog post explains what interventions are, when they may help, and how to approach one with compassion and support. Because even if someone isn’t ready today, knowing help is available can make a difference. 💙
