We’re thrilled to welcome Kim Smith as the keynote speaker for our Annual Meeting! Register today at https://cjfhc.org/annual-meeting-2026

As the Founder and CEO of Health Evolve Technologies, a digital innovation company closing the gap on poor maternal health outcomes, Kim is a passionate leader in maternal health innovation and health equity. Her passion for transforming health equity is a result of her own experience in losing her first child due to a life-threatening hypertensive disorder of pregnancy. Kim has dedicated her voice and expertise to transforming maternal health outcomes and ensuring BIPOC communities are heard and represented in the systems designed to serve them.

At our Annual Meeting, Kim will explore “Back Home Again: Centering Innovative Community-Integrative Models of Care for Better Outcomes Beyond the Walls of Systems.” Her keynote will challenge us to think differently about how we connect people, communities, and systems of care to create better outcomes for families.

Kim Smith brings a powerful perspective with decades of healthcare leadership experience, a background in health administration and global health equity research, and a deep commitment to maternal health innovation.

We can’t wait to hear from Kim and learn alongside our community! Register today at https://cjfhc.org/annual-meeting-2026

When someone in our community succeeds, we all have something to celebrate! Congratulations to Family Child Care provider Nancy Jimenez, who was named the 2026 NAFCC Educator of the year, a national award that recognizes exceptional commitment to providing high-quality early learning and childcare. Nancy Jimenez was a Grow NJ Kids (GNJK) Family Child Care pilot program participant and remains actively enrolled in the program today. July is Chronic Disease Awareness Month, a reminder that small choices can have a lasting impact on our health.

For families who choose to breastfeed or provide human milk, the benefits extend well beyond infancy. Research shows that breastfeeding can help reduce a mother's risk of chronic conditions, including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of breast and ovarian cancers. Congratulations to CJFHC Director of Evaluation & Analytics, Dr. Cheryl Smith, on being recognized in the NJ Integrated Population Health Data (iPHD) newsletter for her study published in the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities!

The study, co-authored by Dr. Smith, examined the differences in Black and White maternal morbidities during the COVID-19 pandemic using linked New Jersey birth, mortality, hospital discharge, and COVID-19 testing data. The findings underscore persistent racial disparities, with Black/African American mothers experiencing a higher burden of maternal morbidity and severe maternal morbidity.
CJFHC is proud to support research that helps drive data-informed solutions and advances health equity for mothers and families across New Jersey, and we are proud of our staff who go above and beyond.
