Charleston's First Doula- Trusted by generations of Lowcountry families for pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum support.

Compassionate care for every step of your parenting journey. Mother's Helper was established in 1988 by Lin Cook to help new mothers with the myriad of questions commonly asked about caring for a new baby. Mother's Helper first offered postpartum doula in-home care for new mothers and then later added Bradley Childbirth and Infant Massage classes. Lin also performs labor doula services. As a lactation consultant, Lin provides in-home lactation support for breastfeeding. She has a finely tuned scale that she can bring in your home to determine how much milk baby is getting if you are concerned baby isn't getting enough. As a Medela retailer, Lin has pumps and other accessories available for sale or is happy to order items for you. The focus of Mother's Helper is to assist and educate pregnant women and new mothers in a variety of formats.

Birth Plans: Why They Matter!

You’ve packed your hospital bag, picked out the baby’s coming-home outfit, and prepared the nursery… but have you thought about your birth plan?

A birth plan is more than a checklist! It’s an opportunity to explore your options, communicate your preferences, and feel more confident heading into labor.

Know your options – Understand your choices for labor, delivery, pain management, and newborn care.

Make your voice heard – Share your wishes with your birth team so everyone understands what matters most to you.

Prepare for the unexpected – Birth doesn’t always follow a script! A flexible plan can help you navigate changes with confidence.

Include your support team – Your partner and doula can help you feel encouraged, informed, and supported throughout the process.

Not sure where to start? That’s where Mother’s Helper comes in!

With more than 35 years of experience supporting Lowcountry families, Lin helps expecting parents prepare for birth through childbirth education and compassionate doula care.

Because the goal isn’t a perfect birth plan. It’s an informed, supported, and empowering birth experience! 🩵
