I was taken aback the other day while at my yearly physical and the nurse struggled to ask me about self-harm and suicidal/homicidal thoughts. Her words were. 'Since you deal with depression, do you have any of the other worse symptoms?' Excuse me? You mean self harm or suicidal and homicidal thoughts? No, I don't. Talking about it and being able to speak those words will only help with the stigma that is out there. Don't be afraid to say those words, you may help save someone's life.
