Did you know that a purring cat can calm and even heal you?

For me, when I have a cat on my lap I feel immediate muscle relaxation.

I spent time at the Animal Refuge Center in North Ft Myers every week these past 5 months. I volunteer to work with the FIV + and medical cats.
Even though FIV has been shown to rarely cause issues in cats and most have a healthy long life, they are rarely adopted. At ARC they have shelter, medical care, food and lots of room to roam.

The staff has a lot of work to do every day taking care of 70+ cats so as a volunteer, sitting on the floor and giving love to all that want it, is priceless.

If you feel the same, or if you have anxiety, find a cat rescue where you can sit among the kitties and not only give, but receive love.

The women’s center referenced below is in the Kopila valley in Nepal. They have done amazing things and are planning on expanding the center to a refurbished building. I, as part of the D2N board, am in discussions with them as to how I can help with education.

Today Temple Israel, where I was married, where my children went to pre-school and had their bar-mitzvahs, was attacked!

Thankfully there were armed highly trained security personnel that killed the terrorist.

None of the 140 children or staff were injured. I personally know a lot of them and some of my friend’s grandchildren were in the temple.

But they aren’t ok, they were terrorized fearing for their and their children’s lives until it was known that all were unhurt and the shooter was dead.

As many of you know I was in Israel on October 7 during the invasion. I was physically ok like everyone at Temple Israel today but emotionally it’s hard.

Please reach out to any Jewish friends or colleagues and just check on them.

We’re not ok but we won’t lay down and let hate win.

Another great healthy salad. This time with a protein alternative.
If you’re like me than you don’t like the texture of Tofu. I buy the extra firm and it still isn’t appetizing to me.
I try to keep about 80% of my protein from plants so I bought Tempeh.
It is crunchy and nutty which I love.
I cut it in small squares and fried with a little olive oil.
Here I put it in a salad but I keep a container of it in the fridge and eat it instead of grabbing chips. It’s really good.
