Wounded Haven Counseling offers direct, personal care. As a one-woman practice, the person you meet in session is the same person you’d meet outside of it: someone to laugh with, cry with, share sarcastic remarks with, and most importantly, someone who creates a space where you can feel seen, heard, and fully human.

Wounded Haven Wednesday 🤍

To the kiddos who get us up and out each day—here are my two “little” reasons. Becoming a mom has made me a better therapist, giving me even deeper insight into the demands, joys, and pressures of parenthood. These little eyes are always watching and absorbing.

At a recent training, the instructor asked: How do your children experience you as their parent? That question stayed with me.

What wiring is being installed?
How do they feel when they’re with you?
How will they talk about their childhood someday?

Take it seriously. We can repair—but we often repeat what we don’t repair.

I hope my children remember me as warm, loving, attuned, fun, kind, hardworking, supportive, and inclusive. And when I fall short—because I will—I want them to remember that I worked to repair it.

As we head into another weekend with family gatherings, recognize your importance and the value of maintaining your inner peace, both for yourself and your loved ones. Allow your inner voice, which may caution against prioritizing your own needs, to have a say this year. Setting boundaries, although initially uncomfortable, yields significant long-term benefits. I'm rooting for you! Your gatherings should be filled with people who cherish you and respect your boundaries.

You guys did it again! Wounded Haven made the cut to be in the running for Best of Mankato 2026!! Out of 32 clinics/agencies or practices, you helped WHC show that you might be small, but you can do mighty things!
