Reading and spoken language share the same underlying foundation — and when one is affected, the other often is too.

Here's what the research tells us:
📖 Phonological awareness — the ability to hear and manipulate the sounds in spoken words — is one of the strongest predictors of reading success
🔤 Children with speech and language delays are significantly more likely to experience reading difficulties than their peers

One of the most common questions we get: 'Is my child's speech delay because we speak two languages at home?'

The answer: No. Bilingualism does not cause speech or language disorders.

Here's what the research shows:
🗣️ Bilingual children reach the same language milestones as monolingual children — they may distribute vocabulary across two languages, but their total conceptual vocabulary is comparable
