Face yoga. Can you actually “exercise” your face tighter?
As a facial plastic surgeon who operates on these structures every day, here’s the reality: facial muscles are tiny, delicate muscles designed for expression, not lifting. They simply do not have the strength to reposition sagging tissue.
For very thin, very young patients, facial exercises may create a small temporary change in tone. But for the vast majority of people, facial yoga is not going to lift fallen tissue or reverse facial aging.
Aging in the face comes from changes in skin, fat, ligaments, and deeper support structures, not from weak facial muscles. So while facial yoga is unlikely to hurt anything, it’s also unlikely to create meaningful lifting or contour changes for most people.
Dr. Novis is a double board certified facial plastic surgeon in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Patients travel from across the country for her signature CURRENT Lift technique.
