Mini Facelifts: Why I Don't Recommend Them

A "mini facelift" isn't a specific surgical procedure. It's a marketing term, and what it actually involves can vary widely from one surgeon to another.

In the past two weeks alone, I've performed three revision facelifts on patients who previously had mini facelifts that either didn't provide enough improvement or created unnatural results.

The face ages as one unit. Treating only part of the face can create imbalance, unnatural tension, and results that don't age well. Many patients end up needing a revision much sooner than they expected.

When patients develop jowls, excess neck skin, and early marionette lines, that's often the right time to consider a full deep plane facelift and neck lift. By fully releasing the facial retaining ligaments and repositioning the deeper tissues, the result is more balanced, natural, and long-lasting.

Less than 24 hours after her deep plane facelift and neck lift under local anesthesia, it was time to remove her dressing.

Even with normal swelling, her new jawline is already visible, her jowls are gone, and she can already tell the difference. She also had an upper blepharoplasty, and while everything is still very early in the healing process, the improvement is already beginning to show.

The first 24 hours are all about controlling swelling and getting through the initial recovery. From here, she'll continue healing day by day, with her results becoming more refined over the coming weeks and months.
