We are so excited to welcome Curo Skin to ITSAN's Healthy Skin Club!

Curo Skin is a UK-based company dedicated to helping people improve their daily skincare and haircare routine by reducing common contaminants found in shower water.

Their filtered shower products are designed to reduce chlorine and certain heavy metals commonly present in tap water, helping people who are looking to minimise their exposure to these substances during showering.

Founded after the search for a solution to persistent skin irritation, Curo Skin combines independent product testing with thoughtful design to create products that support healthier everyday routines.

Through their partnership with ITSAN, they hope to help raise awareness of topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) and support the charity's work in providing education, advocacy and resources for those affected. Thank you .skin! 🧡

TSW can affect so much more than just the skin — especially during the teen years. ❤️‍🩹

Join us for a special conversation with Reva Vaddi, a TSW teen advocate, who shares the real mental and emotional challenges of navigating Topical Steroid Withdrawal.

Together, we discuss the realities many young people face during TSW, including anxiety, isolation, self-image, friendships, school, and finding hope during the healing process.

Reva is a 17-year-old junior at Weston High School in Massachusetts. Outside of school, she has a passion for dance and singing, and dedicates her free time to volunteering at local healthcare facilities. Reva is also a dedicated advocate for awareness of Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). Having experienced TSW firsthand, she is committed to sharing her story to support others navigating the same journey and to ensure that patients feel seen and heard.

Yemisi is going into her third year of undergraduate study at the University of Cambridge studying Human, Social and Political Sciences and has been suffering with TSW for 27 months. Having this condition has completed changed her outlook on health, medicine and the body and she has decided to write her dissertation on it.

She intends to look at the social aspects of the condition (e.g. how spaces like Facebook and TikTok are leveraged by sufferers and carers to raise awareness and create community in the face of medical rejection and gaslighting) and also question our understanding of medical knowledge as objective and unchanging.

Yemisi will be travelling to Atlanta to attend the ITSAN TSW Summit as part of her fieldwork, both to observe the event as a site of knowledge production and conduct interviews. For Yemisi, attending this summit is vital in making her dissertation as robust and informative as possible. Yemisi aims to produce a solid body of work which reflects on the struggles and resilience of the TSW community, while encouraging reflection of the medical industry and our attitudes to health in general.

As a UK student, Yemisi kindly asks for your generosity in donating towards the cost of her attending the summit. While very important for her research, she cannot sustainably fund this trip alone. This said, assistance from the wider TSW community would be deeply appreciated. Every little helps!

ITSAN is proud to partner with UK consultant dermatologists Dr. Andrew Affleck and Dr. Sibel Demirel on a new anonymous research survey designed to capture the full lived experience of TSW.

In our latest episode of Let’s Talk TSW, we sit down with Dr. Laura Wheeler, a naturopathic doctor from Melbourne, Australia, who turned her own 18-month battle with severe TSW into a mission to help others heal.

Dr. Wheeler’s story is one of incredible resilience—she began her naturopathy degree online while she was bed bound and unable to work, eventually graduating to specialize in chronic skin conditions. Now she is helping others with skin challenges find their way back to health. 🧡
