 The 50% cut to the same-day procedures will be greatly detrimental to our practice and our patients. Currently, we try to address multiple problems on the same day as patients have been waiting weeks for their appointment and often have multiple issues. If this goes through, we will be forced to make patients come back to have any procedures such as biopsies or injections on a separate day (perhaps months later) adding more wait times and delaying diagnosis in addition to costing our patients more with additional co-pays. Patients driving up to three hours away will have to make a second trip. And this is not just the Medicare. As soon as Medicare makes this change, all private insurances will follow.  If you value receiving optimal care and also your time and money, please comment on the Medicare comments page, as well as contacting your local representatives to oppose this change.

The American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting in Denver provided a valuable learning opportunity for our clinicians and staff. Educational sessions covered a broad range of topics from enhancing patient experience, dermoscopy, skin cancer in addition to many other medical and surgical dermatology updates from world leaders in the field. In addition we had some opportunity to learn about and sample some of the newest skin care products on the market. Last but not least we were able to enjoy some of the culture and dining in the downtown area of Denver.
