Not all acne is created equal — and treating every breakout the same can actually make things harder.✨

Whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts all form a little differently, which means they may respond best to different products and treatments.

Knowing what type of acne you’re dealing with is one of the first steps toward building a routine that actually makes sense for your skin.🤍

Tap through to learn the 6 common types of acne — and remember, picking and over-treating usually aren’t the answer.

Acne is normal. Texture is normal. Breakouts are normal.🤍

This Acne Positivity Day, remember that your skin does not define your beauty or your confidence. Healthy skin isn’t always perfectly clear skin — it’s skin that is cared for, supported, and treated with patience.✨

Are you making any of these common summer skincare mistakes?

Skipping sunscreen on cloudy days, applying too little SPF, forgetting to reapply, over-exfoliating sun-exposed skin, and getting a facial while sunburned can all leave your skin more irritated and vulnerable.

Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, apply it generously, reapply as needed, and keep your routine gentle after spending time outdoors. If your skin is red, hot, painful, peeling, or blistered, allow it to heal completely before scheduling a facial.

A few simple adjustments can help protect your skin throughout the summer and beyond.

A HydraFacial can be a great way to refresh dry, dull, or dehydrated skin—but it should not be performed on an active sunburn.

Wait until all redness, heat, tenderness, blistering, and peeling have completely resolved. While your skin heals, use gentle cleansing, soothing moisturizer, plenty of hydration, and consistent sun protection.

Once your skin barrier has recovered, PCS Aesthetics can customize a HydraFacial based on your skin’s needs. Schedule a consultation so we can help determine when your skin is ready.

Sunburned skin needs gentle care—not a complicated skincare routine.

Start by cooling the skin with a cool shower or damp compress. Cleanse gently, then apply a fragrance-free moisturizer while the skin is still slightly damp. Products containing aloe, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, or colloidal oatmeal can help soothe and support the skin barrier.

While your skin heals, avoid retinol, exfoliating acids, scrubs, strong acne treatments, additional sun exposure, and picking or peeling the skin. Use SPF 30 or higher on unbroken skin when you need to be outside.

Seek medical care for severe blistering, intense pain, fever, dizziness, confusion, or other signs of heat illness.

Healthy summer skin starts before you step outside and continues after the sun goes down.

Begin with hydrated skin, apply sunscreen evenly to your face, neck, ears, and other exposed areas, and reapply every two hours. After a long day outside, gently cleanse with cool or lukewarm water and use soothing, fragrance-free products to support your skin barrier.

If your skin becomes irritated or sunburned, temporarily avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, facial scrubs, harsh cleansing tools, heavily fragranced products, and hot showers.

Protect your skin during the day, then give it the gentle care it needs afterward☀️💧

Most people apply less sunscreen than they need☀️

For your face and neck, use about 1 teaspoon—roughly enough to cover the length of your index and middle fingers. For exposed skin across the body, most adults need about 1 ounce, or approximately 2 tablespoons.

Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, apply it before going outdoors, and reapply at least every two hours—more often after swimming or sweating.

Your sunscreen only provides its labeled protection when you use enough.🩵

Hot weather can affect more than your comfort—it can also affect your skin.☀️

Heat may increase sweating, oil production, redness, irritation, and breakouts while leaving the skin feeling dehydrated. It can also worsen concerns such as rosacea, eczema, heat rash, and dark spots.

Help your skin beat the heat by using a gentle cleanser, lightweight moisturizer, and broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. Drink plenty of water, seek shade, choose cool showers, and avoid heavy products when your skin feels irritated.

A few simple changes can help keep your skin calm, protected, and comfortable all summer long.🩵

Not every reaction means a skincare product is “working.” Sometimes, your skin is telling you it needs a break🧴

Stop using the product and contact a professional when you notice:
• Persistent burning or stinging
• Swelling, hives, or intense itching
• Blistering, cracking, or raw skin
• Severe redness or peeling
• Breakouts or irritation that continue to worsen

When irritation occurs, keep your routine simple and avoid introducing additional active ingredients until your skin has recovered.

Dr. Racheal McCraken can help identify what may be causing the reaction and recommend products better suited to your skin.🩵 Call PCS Aesthetics for your first consultation at 817-945-3949!

Active ingredients can sound complicated—but each one has a different job in your skincare routine.✨

Here’s what these 5 popular ingredients can help with:
🧴 Retinol: Supports skin renewal and improves the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, discoloration, and acne.
🍊 Vitamin C: Brightens dull skin, supports a more even complexion, and provides antioxidant protection.
💧 Hyaluronic Acid: Draws moisture into the skin for a smoother, softer, and more hydrated appearance.
✨ Salicylic Acid: Exfoliates inside the pores to help reduce excess oil, blackheads, congestion, and acne.
🧬 Peptides: Support hydration, firmness, elasticity, and the appearance of fine lines.

Not every active ingredient is right for every skin type—and using too many at once can lead to irritation. We can help you create a routine that supports your specific skin concerns and goals.🩵 Call today at 817-945-3949!📱
