This time of year can be a little tough. I’m a person who feels really good when moving at a fast pace. I feel accomplished, fulfilled, and alive. With the turning of the season, I find myself resisting the slower pace my body asks for.
No, I don’t want to slow down. It scares me. Slowing down means having time to think, reflect, and be with yourself. Despite knowing how good that is, how necessary it is for all of us, I resist it. Slowing down means having less tangible proof that I’m alive.
Every year, I work to embrace this season. Each year, I make a little progress. I make little rituals—making tea, receiving bodywork, stretching in thick socks—that mark the passing of time without requiring me to sprint from one thing to another. I find ways to find worthiness in a quieter pace.
I hope this can be your reminder that seasonal rest is as important as daily rest. And if it’s hard to slow down, you’re not alone. Let’s find some joy in the quiet together ☀️
