Edith A. (Kober) Jennings, of Liverpool, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026 after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease at age 84. She was born and grew up in Pawtucket, RI where she was presumptive valedictorian of her senior class. Her family moved to North Syracuse where she graduated High School. She attended Harpur College (now Binghamton University) and graduated from Oswego State with a degree in elementary teaching. Edith devoted her life to children, her own and her students, passionately teaching them to read.

Edith is predeceased by her parents, Otto and Anne (Taylor) Kober; and her brother, Keith Kober.

She is survived by her husband David, daughter Melissa (Saint Amour), son Nicholas who was her caregiver for the many last years of her life, stepsons, Todd and Peter, a brother William and six grandchildren.

In keeping with Edith’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. She will be laid to rest in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make donations in Edith’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, located at 5015 Campuswood Dr. Suite 102, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

David M. Dinse, 78, of Liverpool, New York passed away on October 8, 2026, in Syracuse, New York.

Born in Buffalo, New York, to Donald and Jean Dinse, Dave was raised in Boston, New York, alongside his older brother, Jim. At 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and was selected for Special Forces, serving with the Green Berets during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Dave earned his bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport, where he met his future wife, Christine Stegmeier. They married on September 2, 1978, and shared 48 years together. Dave went on to build a career with Procter & Gamble, beginning as a pharmaceutical representative and advancing to a district manager. Throughout his career, he was known for a strong work ethic, his genuine care for his colleagues, and a commitment to mentoring those he led.

Dave and Chris settled in Liverpool, New York where they raised their three children, Kate, Ryan, and Karen, and built lasting friendships with their neighbors on Zodiac Circle. They were excited to welcome their children’s partners - Paul Freyer, Eric Osborne, and Madeline Hamberger - who quickly became part of the family. Then came ten grandchildren: Abigael, William, Henry, David, Scarlet, Calvin, Bella, Joanna, Jane, and Teddy. He was also immensely proud of being Uncle Dave to Joe (Kim), Christopher (Amy), and Mike (Heather) Nicosia, Christina (Matt Hallady), Julie Curtis (Brianna Steel), and Maggie (Mitch Rick).

Richard L. Lindeman, 92, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully at Francis House on October 14, 2026.

Richard was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on July 26, 1934, the second son of Velma (Stoddard) and Wilbur Lindeman. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne in 1952, he joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and served honorably until 1962. He then joined the Military Electronics Division of the General Electric Company as a field service engineer, traveling around the world on a variety of assignments. When his department was spun off as the Genigraphics Corporation, he continued his career as a customer service specialist until retiring in 1990, when the company left town. Richard devoted much of his time to his family and volunteering with the Boy Scouts and the Salt City Playhouse theater in Syracuse. He especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren, attending church, and watching sports.

Richard was predeceased by his parents; his three brothers, Robert, William, and Carl, and his two sisters, Donna and Norma.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanne (Halicy) Lindeman; his daughter, Margaret (Michael) Proul of Damascus, MD; two sons, Steven (Kaori) Lindeman of New York, NY and Michael (Rachel) Lindeman of Avondale, PA; his brother, John Lindeman of Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Coleman, and Miyabi; and several nieces and nephews.

Vasileios “Basil” Mavropoulos was born in Egypt on February 10, 1954 to Ioannis and Kalliopi Mavropoulos. He was the eldest of three children, with two younger siblings, Marika and Costa, who were also born in Egypt.

In 1963, the family emigrated to South Africa, where Basil continued his education in Johannesburg after beginning his schooling at a Greek school in Egypt. He quickly mastered English and Afrikaans, one of South Africa’s official languages at the time. From an early age, Basil displayed a natural talent for solving technical problems. He was often called upon to help at school and soon earned a reputation as the school’s junior handyman. This early curiosity and aptitude eventually led him to a career in computers, opening the door to opportunities to travel the world, explore new places, and form many lasting friendships.

Basil always dreamed of moving to the United States and becoming an American citizen. After many years, he fulfilled that dream in 2024, a milestone that brought him great satisfaction.

Music was another of Basil’s passions. Although he loved music and played the guitar, he generally kept his musical talents to himself. In his younger years, he played in a band before eventually passing the guitar-playing role on to his brother, Costa.

Paul F. Conklin, 68, of Marcellus, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 11, 2026. He was born in Cortland, NY to the late Francis and Pauline (Metcalf) Conklin.

He enjoyed gardening, going to the YMCA, playing the guitar, singing and spending time with his large and beloved extended family. Paul was a man of deep faith and he had a heart of gold.

Paul is survived by his loving spouse of 21 years, Jane (Gray) Conklin; his children, Nikki (Robert) Kersbergen, Tiffany (Ryan) Burns, Kristi Conklin, Trisha (David) Stott, Ashley (Jason) Snow, Evan Parker, Joseph Osinski, Trevor Parker, and Brandon Conklin; his 15 grandchildren, Lura, Caroline, Garret (Nikki), Mason, Silas (Tiffany), Keria, Angelina, Javier (Kristi), Stephen, Natalie (Trisha), Nora, Ella (Ashley), Donovan, Nicholas (Evan), and Micielo (Joey), and his sister, Charlotte Strauf.

George E. Hotaling, Jr., 86, of Clay, NY passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born in Syracuse, son of the late George E. Hotaling, Sr. and Ethel (Kiebert) Hotaling.
George received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Syracuse University, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran from 1958 - 1962.
George was a New York State Trooper from 1962 - 1982 and received the TV 5 Gold Badge Award in 1977 for rescuing a person from a burning vehicle while off-duty. He worked at Niagara Mohawk for seven years, and then formed a private electrical contracting business with Russ Snell for 10 years. George was an active farmer from the age of 14 and continued to maintain the family vegetable farm alongside his other careers. He last worked as a transfer driver for Ryder Truck rental finally retiring at 80 years of age.
George was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; Masonic Memorial Lodge #648 and Konosioni Lodge #950. He joined Tigris Shrine in 1989 and became Potentate in 2002. As a member of Tigris Shrine, he was selected to the Board of Governors of the Boston Burn Hospital and received Emeritus status after 10 years. His military affiliations included being an officer and e-board member of American Legion Post #787. He was also a member of Post 787 Sons of the American Legion, Post 787 Riders and Patriot Guard as well as a member of the Marine Corps League, Syracuse Detachment.

Rosa Maria Greco, 71, of Syracuse, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on July 3, 1955, in Canicatti, Sicily to the late Vincenzo Greco and Isabella (Surrusca) Greco.

Rosa Maria studied pre-law in Palermo, Sicily and worked at the Centro Radio di Canicatti, her father’s radio and television station, where she hosted radio dedica and a game show. After immigrating to Syracuse, NY with her family in the late 1970s, she worked as a seamstress at Learbury Factory.

In 1980, she wed Antonino Gullotto, and they raised five beautiful children together. As a beloved mother and grandmother, she loved hosting, expressing her love through cooking and baking for her family. She cherished their quality time together – laughing, sharing stories and creating beautiful memories. She was a devoted daughter who cared for both of her parents until their passing.

Rosa Maria was creative, empathetic and a loving woman. She loved history, genealogy and architecture. She was fond of the arts and enjoyed painting, making stained glass and immersing herself in the local art culture.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased her niece, Nichole Greco.

She is survived by her five children: Donna, Elizabeth, Daniela, Vincenzo and Sabrina Gullotto; her siblings: Gaetano (Kathleen), Giuseppe (Erin) and Salvatore Greco, all of Syracuse; and 3 grandchildren: Gianna, Viviana and Lorenzo. She leaves behind many...

Joann Carmella (Matrone) Croffut, 88, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, October 4, 2026. She was born in Syracuse to the late Samuel and Anna (Deluca) Matrone.

Joann was a special lady, with so much love and devotion. Her family meant the world to her. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of Joann's proudest moments was going back to school at Onondaga Community College in her mid-50's to obtain the credits needed to work as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant at Salem Hyde in the Syracuse City School District. She truly loved all of the children she helped. Her special bond with them lasted well beyond the years she assisted them in class. Joann always gave beyond measure to anyone in need.

Joann had many interests included going to local casino's with her children and grandchildren, talking on the phone with lifelong friends, beating others at Chinese Checkers, playing cards, dancing to Neil Diamond songs, shopping, having family gatherings at her house, especially Christmas Eve, doing Word Search, which she was great at, drinking tea, taking walks, playing Bingo, and especially eating pasta, sweets and other favorite foods her children would make for her. Her departure has left a hole in our hearts, as she was so loved by so many.
