I want to thank each of you for your support and understanding during my daughter's incredibly long and complex medical journey. She spent over 7 months at Riley Hospital and is truly a testimony to God's faithfulness and healing. Many of you prayed earnestly during that time for her healing and my family is so grateful and appreciative for the love and support we have been shown.
Adalee spent 6 months in the ICU. She was sedated and intubated for over 2 months. She was on continuous kidney dialysis on two separate occasions totaling over 3 months of time due to kidney damage. She endured 4 cycles of chemotherapy, 2 tumor removal surgeries, and countless CT scans, MRI's, and x-rays. She was in the operating room on 10 different occasions. She had a tracheostomy in December and we were told she would be on a ventilator for the rest of her life due to her extensive lung damage. At the end of April, her trach was removed and she has been breathing completely on her own ever since. On May 7th, after 221 days at Riley, Adalee was able to come home! Adalee's recovery is truly a miracle that we thank God for every single day.
Adalee is so happy to be home and she is doing very well. She is working hard on making up the school work she missed during her time in the hospital and she continues working to build her strength and stamina to eventually return to a state of complete physical rehabilitation. The current plan is for Adalee to return to school in August.
I plan to continue working in the office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until school starts. At that time, I plan to return to half days on Tuesday and Thursday as I worked before Adalee's illness.
Again, I thank you all for your prayers, love, and support throughout this difficult journey. I cannot describe how incredible our community has been to our family.
