She is licensed in PA., and is a Member of the American Massage Therapy Association. rapy, Hot Stone Massage and Medical Massage. She is a Usui Reiki Master. She has explored and continues to explore many different modalities, taking training classes every chance she gets. 🚨 According to Research about our Brain :

This is for the person who has resisted the idea of forgiveness not out of pettiness or lack of compassion but out of a genuine and reasonable concern that forgiving means something it does not actually mean.

Who has confused forgiveness with reconciliation, with minimizing what happened, with communicating to the person who hurt them that the behavior was acceptable, with making themselves vulnerable to the same harm again.

Who has been carrying something heavy partly because the only alternative they were offered required them to do something that felt fundamentally unsafe.

The research on forgiveness draws a distinction that most people have never been offered clearly enough to actually use.

Researcher Fred Luskin at Stanford University, whose forgiveness research project produced some of the most rigorous empirical work on the psychological and physiological effects of forgiveness, defined forgiveness in specifically nonrelational terms.

Forgiveness, in Luskin’s research framework, is not a statement about the other person, not a restoration of trust, not a resumption of relationship, and not a minimization of what occurred.

It is a specific change in the forgiver’s internal relationship to a past event, specifically the decision, made repeatedly and deliberately over time, to stop running the memory of what happened through the brain’s active threat processing system and to reclassify it as a completed past event rather than an ongoing present danger.

The physiological consequences of this reclassification are measurable and significant.

Luskin’s studies found that participants who completed forgiveness interventions showed significant reductions in cortisol, lower blood pressure, reduced muscle tension, improved cardiovascular markers, and measurably decreased activation of the amygdala’s threat response when recalling the relevant memories.

The body was being released from the ongoing physical cost of maintaining a threat response to something that was no longer actually threatening in the present moment.

Neuroscientist Everett Worthington’s complementary research, conducted over decades and motivated partly by his own experience of profound betrayal, found that the primary beneficiary of forgiveness is neurologically and physiologically the person doing the forgiving.

The person who hurt you may never know.

May never change.

May never be held accountable in the way that justice would require.

None of that changes what chronic unforgiveness costs the body of the person carrying it, in elevated stress hormones, suppressed immunity, disrupted sleep, and the ongoing metabolic cost of maintaining an active threat response to a past event.

Forgiveness is not a gift you give to the person who hurt you.

It is a biological release you give to the nervous system that has been paying the cost of their actions long after they stopped paying anything at all.

You can forgive completely and trust never again.

One of the most fascinating discoveries in brain science is neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt and reorganize throughout life. Every time you repeat a thought, emotion, or behavior, you strengthen the neural pathways connected to that experience. This means the habits you practice most often gradually become the habits your brain performs more naturally.

When you intentionally notice moments of gratitude, stay present, or celebrate small joys, you are giving your brain repeated opportunities to reinforce those positive patterns. Over time, these pathways can become stronger, making it easier to recognize opportunities for optimism and emotional balance. This does not mean you should ignore sadness, stress, or difficult emotions. Healthy mental wellness comes from acknowledging life's challenges while also creating space for positive experiences to take root.

Psychology teaches us that lasting change is rarely built through one life changing moment. It grows through consistent daily choices. A few minutes of mindfulness, expressing appreciation, spending time with loved ones, or reflecting on what went well each day may seem small, but repeated over time they can influence how your brain responds to the world.

🚨 According to Research about our Brain :

This is for the person who has become very good at holding it together.

Who has built an efficient system for managing their emotional life from the outside, staying functional, staying composed, staying fine, while quietly carrying something underneath that has never fully been given anywhere to go.

Who has confused the ability to suppress an emotion with the ability to resolve one, not realizing until much later that the two are not the same thing at all.

The emotion that is never acknowledged does not dissolve quietly. Research suggests it finds another exit.

Neuroscientist James Gross at Stanford University, whose extensive research on emotion regulation established much of what we now understand about how the brain handles unexpressed feeling, found that emotional suppression, the deliberate effort to inhibit the outward expression of an internal emotional state, does not reduce the emotional experience itself.

It actually maintains or amplifies the physiological component of the emotion while consuming significant cognitive resources in the process of managing its expression.

In practical terms, this means the person who appears completely composed on the outside may be experiencing the same or greater physiological arousal, elevated heart rate, elevated cortisol, increased muscle tension, as someone who is openly expressing the same emotional state.

The performance of composure does not turn down the body’s response.

It simply routes it inward, where it continues operating beneath the visible surface.

Researcher Sven Barnow at the University of Heidelberg studied the downstream consequences of chronic emotional suppression and found that it was consistently associated with increased rates of anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, interpersonal difficulties, and, critically, a tendency for suppressed emotional content to surface involuntarily, in intrusive thoughts, in physical symptoms, in sudden disproportionate reactions to relatively minor triggers, as the stored material finds alternate routes out of a system that was never designed to hold it indefinitely.

This is not an argument for expressing every emotion immediately in every situation.

Context and discernment matter.

But there is a significant difference between choosing when to express something and genuinely believing that not expressing it means it no longer exists.

The brain is not fooled by the performance of being fine. It is still carrying what has never been fully given space to move.

You do not have to perform composure for an audience that includes yourself.

The feeling will wait.

And the longer it waits without being acknowledged, the louder and more insistent the way it eventually makes itself known tends to become.

This is for the person who was doing genuinely well. Who had a stretch of good days, maybe even a good week, where the weight felt lighter and the future felt possible and they allowed themselves to believe that maybe the hardest part was finally behind them.

And then, without warning, the floor dropped again.

The grief came back, the anxiety returned, the old heaviness settled back in, and suddenly those good days felt like a cruel joke rather than genuine progress, as if the healing had never been real to begin with.

It was real.

And the crash that followed it was not the undoing of your progress. It was, according to the research, one of the clearest signs that genuine healing was actually occurring.

Neuroscientist Richard Davidson at the University of Wisconsin, whose research mapped the neural patterns of people moving through significant emotional recovery, found that healing does not move in a straight upward line.

It moves in what researchers sometimes describe as an oscillating pattern, periods of genuine improvement followed by periods of apparent regression, with the regression periods gradually becoming shorter and less intense over time, even when they do not feel that way from the inside.

The reason for this pattern is partly neurological. As the brain begins forming new neural pathways associated with recovery and regulated emotional function, the old pathways associated with grief, fear, and pain do not simply disappear overnight.

They remain structurally present for a period, and the brain can revert to them under conditions of stress, fatigue, or emotional trigger, even when new healthier pathways are genuinely developing alongside them.

The crash is not the absence of healing. It is the brain temporarily re-accessing an older pathway while the newer one continues developing.

Psychologist George Bonanno’s longitudinal research on recovery trajectories confirmed this pattern across thousands of bereaved people, finding that nonlinear recovery, including apparent backward movement after periods of progress, was one of the most common and ultimately healthy trajectories, rather than the linear, steadily improving path most people expect and demand of themselves.

The crash after good days is not evidence that you are back at the beginning.

It is evidence that you are in the oscillating, non-linear, deeply human process of a brain that is genuinely doing the work of healing, even when the surface looks like the opposite of progress.
