Part 1: A knock to the head is not always “just a bump.”

Most of us have bumped our heads on a cupboard, getting into the car, or during sport and thought, “I’m fine.”

But during a sudden impact, the brain can move within the skull, potentially causing a concussion even when there is no visible injury.

Unlike a muscle injury, recovery isn’t about pushing through. In the early stages, your brain may benefit from rest, reduced stimulation, and a gradual return to normal activities.

Screens, bright lights, loud environments, and intense mental or physical activity can sometimes aggravate symptoms.

Healing takes time. Listen to your body and don’t rush the process,
John

Part 2: When should you take a head injury seriously?

Always.

Seek urgent medical attention if you experience increasing drowsiness, repeated vomiting, worsening headache, confusion, weakness, seizures, loss of consciousness, or any symptoms that concern you.

Once serious injury has been excluded, recovery should be gradual.

In my practice, I have often found Craniosacral treatment beneficial as a gentle, supportive approach following head trauma. The aim is not to force change, but to support relaxation, comfort, and overall wellbeing during recovery.

Healing can’t be rushed.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is slow down, rest, and give your brain the time it needs.

Have you or someone you know experienced concussions or head trauma?

All best wishes,
John

Labor Day is a reminder that rest matters, too.

We spend so much of our lives doing—working, caring, creating, achieving, giving but beneath all of that, our bodies are constantly at work for us.
Breathing. Adapting. Moving. Restoring. Holding. Letting go.

What if Labor Day could also be an invitation to honor that work?

Holistic wellness isn’t only about doing more for our health. Sometimes it’s about slowing down enough to listen to the body, creating space for rest, and remembering that we don’t have to be productive every moment to be worthy of care.

Craniosacral therapy is one gentle way of stepping out of the busyness and into a quieter relationship with yourself and your body.

Today, may we honor both the work we do and the rest we need.

Happy Labor Day.

Sometimes, feeling “off” isn’t something you can simply think your way out of.

When the nervous system has been under stress for a long time, the body can begin to feel disconnected, overwhelmed, exhausted, or unlike itself.

That’s where treatment can help.

The goal isn’t to “fix” you, because you’re not broken.

It’s about understanding what your system may be holding, identifying the patterns that are keeping you stuck, and giving your body and nervous system the right support to begin finding balance again.

Treatment can help you feel more grounded, regulated, present, and more like yourself.

You don’t have to have all the answers before asking for support.

Sometimes, simply knowing that something feels off is enough to begin.

If this resonates with you, reaching out could be the first step toward feeling more like yourself again.

Best wishes,
John

You are not your feelings.

But do you know how to feel them without being ruled by them?

We often say:

“I’m angry.”
“I’m afraid.”
“I’m anxious.”

But what happens when we stop saying “I am” and begin to recognize:

“Fear is present in me.”

That small shift can be the beginning of something important:

Freedom.

Feeling “off” but can’t quite explain why?

Foggy. Disconnected. Tired. Not fully present. Maybe you’ve even thought, “I just don’t feel like myself.”

Sometimes the body and nervous system need more than rest. They need the right signals to help find their way back toward balance.

This is one of the things I help people with: moving from feeling scattered and overwhelmed toward feeling calm, centered, and more like themselves again.

You don’t always need to know exactly what’s wrong to know that something feels off.

We’ve all heard this one before. It’s perhaps one of the most well-known sayings out there. But let’s take a closer look.

“You are what you eat.”

It’s more than a reminder to choose healthy food. It’s a reflection on how everything we take into ourselves shapes who we become.

Food nourishes the body. But our thoughts, experiences, words, and relationships nourish the soul.

What we “consume” goes far beyond what’s on our plate. It includes the information we read, the people we spend time with, the conversations we have, and the experiences we allow into our lives.

Just as our bodies are influenced by the food we eat, our minds and character are shaped by what we repeatedly expose ourselves to.

What we consume, we carry within us.

Like a garden, the self grows from what is planted and tended. Fill it with goodness, wisdom, curiosity, and care, and those things begin to take root.

So perhaps the better question isn’t only:

“What am I eating?” but also “What am I becoming?”

Thank you, D. U., for your kind words and generous recommendation. It means a great deal to know that our treatment sessions have helped in your recovery.

Motor vehicle accidents can leave the body dealing with more than just the obvious areas of pain. The sudden impact can create strain throughout the neck, spine, connective tissues, and nervous system. Craniosacral therapy uses gentle, hands-on techniques to release areas of tension, support nervous-system regulation, and encourage the body’s natural healing process. It can also be a valuable complement to physical therapy and other forms of care during recovery from an MVA.

I’m grateful be part of your healing journey and wish you continued progress and relief.

This is a process I’ve developed through many years of working with the nervous system in my healing practice. It has two components: the active techniques I speak about in this video, which you can use on your own every day, and its treatment counterpart, which I use in my practice.

I use Craniosacral Therapy (including SomatoEmotional Release) to work with the body to help regulate and turn down the intensity of its stress response: to lower the “temperature” of activation so that you’re not constantly reacting to everyday life as though you’re in danger.

The goal isn’t to become less sensitive. It’s to create enough regulation that you can respond to life from a deeper place of choice, discernment, and self-mastery.
