Due to water intrusion and ongoing remediation efforts, ground-floor services at the 170 University Drive building in Amherst remain impacted.

The Laboratory Patient Service Center and patient registration have reopened in temporary second-floor space. Express Care will reopen on Saturday, August 8, with a delayed start at 10 a.m. and will resume normal operating hours thereafter. Radiology services, including Mammography, MRI and Ultrasound remain impacted, and patients with affected appointments will be contacted directly with additional information and rescheduling options.

Could you help save a life in a choking emergency?

Cooley Dickinson Hospital is offering Choke Safety Certification classes for restaurant employees, food service workers, those who support high-risk individuals and anyone who wants to be ready to respond when every second counts.

This one-hour course teaches participants how to recognize when someone is choking and how to respond using abdominal thrusts, with hands-on practice using manikins and guided discussion.

Classes are held Fridays from 9-10 AM in the Dakin Conference Room:
• Aug. 14
• Sept. 18
• Oct. 16

For food service establishments, this certification also helps meet Massachusetts choke safety requirements. We will arrange private classes for groups of 8 or more.

Cooley Dickinson Hospital recently welcomed leaders from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Governor’s Office for a tour of our newly renovated and expanded Emergency Department.

The visit was an opportunity to highlight how the new space is helping support patients, families and care teams across western Massachusetts — with additional capacity, improved workflows and dedicated areas designed to better support patients with behavioral health needs.

Thank you to our Emergency Department team and hospital leaders for hosting the visit and for the compassionate, high-quality care they provide every day.
