So happy to share this great podcast episode with you...listen to hear from Faith Samaan (who I have known for a few years and just got to spend a few days with earlier this month) from Portland, OR. She's an IBCLC who works in private practice and in a hospital and is talking with her colleague Dr. Emily Spaeth, about why fl**ge fitting matters.

If you are having a baby in the next several months, it's time to think about prenatal education.

WHEN TO SIGN UP?
Ideally, people sign up around 15 weeks of pregnancy, just to block off time on your schedule and feel like one more thing on your list is done.

WHEN TO START?
It's great if you can be done with all your prenatal classes by week 36, if possible, but we definitely have some people who are due very soon after they finish the last class. Fun fact: most first-time parents don't give birth until after 40 weeks of pregnancy anyway.

WHERE ARE CLASSES?
Our classes are all available online (most as live, interactive classes), except for our CPR & Choke Saving Skills class (which is for anyone, age 12 or above, to attend). We have an in-person Breastfeeding Ready class and our Move & Get Comfy for Labor class is offered in-person, live online (while the in-person class is happening), or as an on-demand class (where Melissa Anne and I recorded us teaching as if you were there in-person with us!).

WHY TAKE OUR CLASSES?
They are fun, thorough, evidence-based, small, and interactive. Melissa Anne teaches most of them and not only does she have personal experience as a mother of three, giving birth in two different hospitals and then had one homebirth, but she is about to get her PhD in nursing so she can teach nursing students...she's incredibly knowledgeable but also loves empowering people to make their OWN choices for their OWN ideal birth experience. I teach the Breastfeeding Ready classes and love having parents-to-be doing hands-on activities to help them prepare for feeding their baby, but I am only able to offer these classes when I'm in Central Massachusetts, between the many workshops I teach for other lactation and perinatal professionals all over the US and in other countries.

Want to be sure you know how to save a life AND you are available this Saturday, May 30, AND you live close enough to Central Massachusetts to get here for our in-person class?

Amanda has just five seats remaining in her CPR and Choke Saving Skills class (which includes adults, kids, and babies...and if you have time to stay a little longer, there is bonus info on narcan use).

Sign up soon to get one of those remaining seats. This class is for anyone: those expecting a baby, those that have a baby, grandparents, grandparents-to-be, teenagers, tweens, cousins, friends, other family members...everyone can learn how to save a life!

We hear these comments frequently from our clients:
"I wish I would have scheduled this sooner."
"I had no idea nursing could feel this good."
"So I've been pumping with the wrong size fl**ge this whole time?"

Whether you are nursing, pumping, bottlefeeding, or all three, there is a lot to know. We are here for you. If you live in Massachusetts, many insurances reimburse for consultations with us. Some reimburse for unlimited visits. We tend to know which ones those are, so send a message to [email protected] to ask...

Home visits, virtual visits, and office visits are all available.

Not sure if your questions warrant a visit, send a message.

For those expecting a baby and planning to labor with the hopes of pushing their baby out, learning about movement in labor and strategies for staying comfortable are things we think are incredibly important to learn. Particularly for the person who is SUPPORTING the laboring person, he or she needs to have the skills and strategies ready for the big day (or days)!

We also know that not everyone can attend an in-person class.
๐ŸŽฅ Melissa Anne and I recorded our Move and Get Comfy for Labor class in a way that makes you feel like you are an actual participant, ๐Ÿง๐Ÿป๐Ÿง๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿง๐Ÿผstanding there in class with us (yes, standing, it's a VERY active class where you are supposed to ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ watch, ๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿฝ listen, and then DO ๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿพthe moves we are teaching, WITH your birth partner there while you are watching the class). It's all about practice, practice, practice!!

If you want to hear my take on ni**le shields and fl**ge fitting...what do YOU think?

Ni**le shields. Flanges. Are they related when we choose the size? When are ni**le shields needed and how can a parent stop using it? A ni**le shield is a tool to help babies latch and/or to protect the ni**le while nursing a baby on a sore ni**le. They aren't always needed, and for most people they...
