People heal from unimaginable traumas. You can too. If you are experiencing interfering symptoms on your functioning, know that you don’t have to be on your own with them. πŸ€πŸ‘« You don’t have to be alone - they don't have to last forever. ** If you want our specialized help, we are here. **

You don't have to be a hero everyday. πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈ I think we can all agree that is just being excessive and unrealistic. Some days, it's just about getting through safely without doing more harm, and conquering things tomorrow. Survival is essential tool that sometimes gets a bad wrap as just getting by or not doing enough - FALSE! - Survival takes great strength, grit, stamina, perseverance, self-care, awareness, insight, and skill. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ Knowing where your limits are and accepting them is so critical to living a healthy and balanced life. Without limits, we wouldn't be able to cross them or shatter them πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ ... Now this perspective includes reason, reality, and manageable goals that include accepting where you are now (even if it's not at 100%) while still expecting to break through and achieve great things! You are still a hero and can conquer your goals doing it this way. So, let's include self-care into our survival tool kit. Let's set non-judgmental and realistic goals that feel good and balanced ** ❀️ Take it easy today if you need you, knowing that doing so still gives you the opportunity to still conquer great things.❀️ **

You CAN RECOVER & HEAL from TRAUMA 🌱🌈πŸ₯€ * Breathe again. Get control again. Live again. * 🌱🌈πŸ₯€ Trauma takes many forms and includes panic, numbness, restlessness, and impulsivity. It doesn't show itself in just the sadness and withdrawal that most people know of. It can be a single occurrence or multiple events. Trauma is a whole body experience which can stun or paralyze an individual long after the traumatic event(s) occurs. Trauma makes us feel like we are going through the motions and unable to live in the present. We may start to feel and live like we cannot survive it - despite actually being built to withstand unimaginable tragedies as human beings. By obtaining effective strategies, skills, and support, you can build resilience and make this happen. Feeling and regulating your emotions in a nonjudgmental therapeutic space allows you to decrease unhelpful coping mechanisms like avoidance and instead safely move through the trauma - not around it.

Perspective Taking - adjusting the way you see a situation or yourself πŸ‘€πŸ§πŸ‘€ It's one of the most powerful tools in therapy and in life that impacts the way you feel, act, respond, and live life - More help to improve the way you live life and cope with challenges: www.cpwtherapy.com - This is about how to shift your own perspective about what you see in front of you by zooming out or in (on a situation or a part of yourself) in order to change the way you feel and/or respond. When you experience intense emotions, automatic thoughts like overthinking, focusing on details, catastrophizing outcomes, and so much more tend to swirl in your head, like a tornado, kicking up a dust storm of overwhelming or even fearful emotions. This all happens in response to the way you perceive and focus on the situation or a part of yourself. Your point of view and how narrow or wide the lens is impacts how you see the world and yourself, which in turn guides how your feel and react. By purposefully shifting your focus to a detail (i.e. zooming in) when you feel carried away or anxious because of "what if" thinking and get lost in all the possibilities of what could be - you can regain some control and ground yourself by focusing back on one thing, and noticing all of that thing with your full attention. You will feel better by bringing your attention and focus to the reality of what is happening and what is most likely to happen, not on everything that you could possible think of that could happen ... In contrast ... By taking the blinder's off and taking a wider view or seeing the bigger picture, in which all the numerous details become hazy and unclear (e.g. zooming out) - you can feel some relief as you look at the whole canyon in front of you instead of just one of the peaks; you will see more than just that negative detail or moment of pain. You can ask yourself will I or the other person really remember all of this to this extent in 1, 5, or 10 years? From this new wider perspective, you may realize that you can actually cope and survive in a way that you didn't notice before when you weren't seeing the big picture. ** Knowing in what circumstances to shift your attention and how to do so is a critical skill to healthy perspective taking, balanced emotional health, and a sense of control over yourself and your experiences. **
