Though it’s become common to hear people say “I’m so OCD” about their cleaning habits, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is not a quirky personality trait.

It’s a serious mental health condition that can involve intrusive thoughts, overwhelming anxiety, and compulsions that feel impossible to control.

That's why how we talk about mental health conditions matters. This , please join us in spreading awareness and breaking down the stigma around OCD. 🧡

"Choosing to keep showing up for my mental health has opened doors I never even knew existed. 🥹

I genuinely didn't know my life could look like this.

If I had let my anxiety and depression make every decision for me, I would've missed out on so many beautiful experiences, people, and versions of myself. 🫶

I'm so grateful I kept choosing to ask for help, do the work, and keep showing up. It was worth it." 🧡

is a time to dispel myths about obsessive-compulsive disorder, break the stigma, and provide education and awareness to help those living with OCD to feel seen, understood, and supported. 🧡

While OCD is often dismissed as “just liking things neat and organized,” it’s actually a serious mental health condition that can be deeply distressing and even debilitating.

There are also different types of OCD, and it can look different for everyone. But across every type, OCD involves unwanted, distressing thoughts and repetitive behaviors that are difficult to control. ⬇️

Your mental health matters 🙌

While there's been a lot of progress made to reduce stigma and spread awareness around mental health, we still have a long way to go.

Unfortunately, harmful stereotypes still exist and can leave people feeling ashamed, isolated, or afraid of being judged, causing them to struggle in silence rather than reaching out for support.

In honor of # WorldMentalHealthDay, we've compiled a few misconceptions to unlearn, tangible ways to care for your mental health, and resources you can turn to when you need them. 🧡

Although the mental health movement has made tremendous progress in normalizing conversations around mental illnesses, harmful stereotypes still exist. 👇

And these misconceptions can fuel stigma, which can shape how people feel about themselves and whether they will seek life-saving support.

This Mental Illness Awareness Week, you can help break the stigma by:

➡️ Talking openly about mental health
➡️ Using respectful, non-stigmatizing language
➡️ Listening without judgment
➡️ Educating yourself and others

Please share to spread awareness. 🧡
