🎓✨ Congratulations to Caitlin Lopez, recipient of the 2026 Helen Strobl Memorial Scholarship!

Awarded annually to a graduating Northport High School senior pursuing a career in nursing, this scholarship honors the legacy of Helen Strobl, the first Executive Director of Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk and a dedicated advocate for nursing education.

Recently, Caitlin toured our Hospice House with her mom, and VNSHS Board Members Bob Cogliati and Susan Gouldson. As she prepares to begin her studies at Fairfield University this fall, we are proud to support her journey toward a career in nursing and healthcare.

💙 A Simple Bracelet. Honoring the Journey of Patients and Families.

Yesterday, local teens came together at the Northport-East Northport Public Library to create Bracelets for a Cause. The bracelets were inspired by local students Charlotte, Cammy, and Maddie, whose family received care from Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk and wanted to give back.

The bracelets go on sale Monday for $10 each at the VNSHS Community Thrift Shop in Huntington. Proceeds support Hospice House, our inpatient hospice residence. Thank you to everyone who participated. 💙

There's still time to join us today at the Northport-East Northport Public Library for a Bracelet Making teen event benefiting Hospice House. Registration is required. Open to students entering 7th-12th grade.

Inspired by local students Charlotte, Cammy, and Maddie, whose families received care from VNSHS, Bracelets for a Cause began as a way to give back. Last year, they launched Bracelets for a Cause, creating and selling handcrafted bracelets to support Hospice House. Each bracelet is sold for $10, with net proceeds benefiting Hospice House.

Now, other local teens can make a difference too. We hope you'll be part of this special event! Space is limited, so register today. 💙

🌟 Volunteer & Donor Spotlight: Michele Miroff
When hospice cared for Michele's parents in 2006, the compassion shown to her family left a lasting impression. That experience inspired her to become a hospice volunteer with VNSHS.

Today, Michele supports patients and families through companionship visits, welcoming guests at Hospice House, fundraising through her quilting guild, and charitable giving through both annual and planned gifts.

Her dedication demonstrates how one person's gratitude can create a lasting impact for countless others. Thank you, Michele, for your extraordinary generosity and service. 💙

Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is simply our presence. After beginning her volunteer journey at VNSHS in 2022, Vanessa has become a sympathetic source of support for patients and families at Hospice House. She was drawn to volunteer work that allows her to make a meaningful difference during one of life's most challenging moments. Whether sitting quietly at the bedside, reading with a patient, making bereavement calls, or helping at VNSHS’ community events, she embodies the power of showing up with an open heart.

One of her most memorable moments is spending time with a patient who loved sharing stories about taking her family to Disney World. Vanessa would visit her room, read with her, and listen as she reminisced. After every shift, Vanessa leaves with the same feeling: 💙 "My heart is full. I feel like I did something meaningful to help others."

For Vanessa, hospice care is also deeply personal. Her own mother received home hospice services, and the kindness her family experienced left a lasting impact that ultimately inspired her to give back to others facing similar journeys. Thank you, Vanessa, for bringing comfort, companionship, and compassion to our patients, families, and community.
