Everyone says she’s fine. You’ve seen otherwise.

If you’re the one who notices what nobody else does, this one’s for you. You’re not too sensitive. You’re not the problem. You’re just the person who was actually in the room.

Loving someone whose drinking has a second face is its own specific kind of lonely, especially when the people around you have only ever met the version she shows at holidays. Both versions are real. You don’t have to convince anyone else of what you’ve seen to know it’s true.

If there are kids in the house, being the steady one matters more than you know. And you don’t need her to get better before you’re allowed to get support for yourself.

Nobody talks about this part of recovery: relearning how to have fun.

The fear that life gets smaller when you get sober is real. But here’s what we see every day: connection was always the point.

The gathering was always the good part.

Save this list for your next free weekend. And if you love someone in recovery, slide 7 is for you.

Is it anxiety? Depression? Something they’re using to cope? When you love someone who’s struggling, the not-knowing can feel unbearable.
Here’s the truth: these three often look nearly identical from the outside. Sleep changes, mood swings, pulling away from the family. You’re not imagining it, and you’re not failing for not being able to figure it out on your own.
That’s because the answer usually isn’t one or the other. It’s often layered, and untangling it is exactly what a professional assessment is for.
If you’re seeing changes in someone you love and you don’t know what they mean, reach out. Our team offers free, confidential guidance to help you understand what’s going on and what to do next. No pressure, no judgment. Just answers.

You’re not lazy.
You’re not depressed.
You might be in functional freeze.

Fight and flight get all the attention. Freeze — especially the version that lets you keep functioning — almost never does. And that’s exactly why it stays undiagnosed for years.

Signs of functional freeze:
→ Always tired, but rest doesn’t fix it
→ Hours lost to scrolling
→ Emotional flatness — not sadness, just… nothing
→ Going through the motions like you’re watching yourself do it
→ “I just need to try harder” (that never works)

Freeze is your nervous system’s response to something it decided was too much. Instead of fighting or running, it pressed pause on parts of you.

The good news: what shut down can be turned back on. But the treatment is different from depression or burnout — because freeze doesn’t respond to willpower. It responds to safety. 🌱

Save this if it sounds familiar. Send it to someone you love who’s been calling themselves lazy.

Miracles in Action offers nervous system-informed outpatient therapy for people healing from trauma, freeze, and dysregulation in the greater Los Angeles area. Link in bio.

A new global study put a number on it: 1.2 billion people worldwide living with a mental disorder. Nearly double what it was in 1990.
The first instinct is to argue about the number. Is it real? Is it inflated? Are we pathologizing ordinary life?
Here is what we keep coming back to: both things are true.
The rise is real. The pandemic left a mark. The world population grew. And we finally started counting people who were never counted before.
And the way we name things has changed. The diagnosis list keeps growing. Awareness reshaped the language we use for a hard season. Even the psychiatrist who chaired the DSM-IV task force has spent years warning that we may be turning normal human struggle into something clinical.
None of that makes your loved one’s pain less real. The exhaustion, the spiraling, the dependence, the despair. A manual did not invent any of it.
If you are walking alongside someone right now, the useful question was never “is this real or is this overblown.” It is “what does the person in front of me actually need today?”
Skepticism of the system is not the same as dismissing their pain. And taking their pain seriously is not the same as accepting every label without question.
You can hold both. That is how we love someone wisely.
Save this for the next hard conversation. Share it with someone who needs it. 🤍

Borderline Personality Disorder carries some of the heaviest stigma in mental health, and most of it is built on myths.

BPD isn’t manipulation. It isn’t someone being “too much.” It’s a nervous system that feels things faster, louder, and longer than most, often shaped by early attachment wounds or a world that felt unsafe or invalidating.

Here’s the part that gets left out of the conversation: BPD is one of the most treatable conditions out there. With the right support, like DBT, people don’t just cope. They recover, and recovery is common, not rare.

If this resonates, you don’t have to carry it alone. Start the conversation. Link in bio.

Can you actually train your brain toward calmer, sharper functioning?

Swipe through to learn about neurofeedback therapy: a non-invasive, drug-free approach that uses EEG technology to help train brain waves and support better focus, mood, sleep, and stress management.

It starts with a brain map (qEEG), a color-coded snapshot of your brain activity, which helps your clinician build a plan personalized to you rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.

A typical course runs 20 to 40 sessions, and it works best paired with therapy or medication, not instead of them. The strongest evidence right now supports neurofeedback for ADHD, anxiety, sleep struggles, and post-concussion symptoms, with research growing for depression and PTSD too.

Have you ever wished there was a way to help your brain feel calmer and more focused, without relying on medication?

Neurofeedback therapy is one option worth knowing about. It uses EEG sensors to track your brain's activity in real time, then gives you feedback (through sound or visuals) that gently guides your brain toward healthier patterns. Over time, with repetition, your brain learns to hold onto those patterns on its own.

It usually starts with something called a qEEG brain map: a color-coded snapshot of how different parts of your brain are functioning. That map helps your clinician build a plan that's actually personalized to you, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.

Right now, the strongest research supports neurofeedback for things like ADHD, anxiety, sleep struggles, and post-concussion symptoms, with more research growing every year for depression and PTSD too. A full course is usually 20 to 40 sessions, and it tends to work best paired with therapy or medication, not instead of them.

We put together a complete guide walking through how it works, what a session actually feels like, and what it costs. Check it out at the link below. 💙

BPD or Bipolar? They get mixed up all the time, and the confusion is understandable. Both can bring intense mood swings, impulsive decisions, and real emotional pain.

But they are two distinct conditions, and knowing which one you are facing changes everything about treatment.

The biggest tell is timing and triggers. Bipolar mood episodes last days to weeks and can appear without a clear cause. BPD mood shifts happen fast, often within hours, and are usually tied to relationships or fear of abandonment.

If you have been struggling and nothing seems to fit, the right diagnosis is the first step toward the right care. Our team in Northridge can help you understand what is really going on. Link in bio to reach out today.
