As we continue to celebrate National Nursing Home Week I thought it appropriate to share with you the founders of Southwood at Norwell Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Queen Anne Nursing Home, Deering Nursing Home and Starr Health Group. Lorraine Starr founded Deering Nursing Home in 1954 after serving as a US Army nurse. From there she opened Queen Anne Nursing Home in 1977 which was run by Peter Starr until 2005 upon his retirement from the family business. Richard Starr opened Southwood in September of 1993 and all of the Residents from Deering Nursing Home became Southwood Residents. The first picture below is Lorraine Starr when she served in the army and the second picture is of Peter Starr, Lorraine Starr and Richard Starr on the day we broke ground to build Southwood. A very special thank you to Lorraine, Richard and Peter for blazing the trail of where we are today during this Nursing Home Week!!! ❤️❤️❤️
