On May 27th, our Thrive Together Alumni Event brought the community home. Two incredible guest speakers, great food, and even greater energy filled the room. Thank you to our host and Alumni Coordinator, Jordan Robinson and Business Generation & Marketing Coordinator, Paul Roeser for making it all come together. This is what recovery looks like.

The work does not stop when the shift ends. For many union members, the real work is the one happening inside.

Valley Spring's Stephen Latourette and James Sands joined Friends of Labor at Teamsters Local 456 to share how something as fundamental as sleep plays a role in lasting recovery.

To every construction worker, family member, and LAP professional in that room: we see you, and we are glad to be in this work alongside you.

We Took Mental Health Awareness Month to Yankee Stadium ๐ŸŸ๏ธ ||

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we brought our community together at Yankee Stadium to do what we do best: show up for the people who show up for others.

We were honored to host some of the incredible referral partners who trust us with their clients, their families, and their most difficult moments. This gathering was a chance to celebrate that relationship, reflect on how far we have come, and recommit to the work still ahead.

Recovery is a team effort. And rooms like the one we shared at Yankee Stadium are proof of what becomes possible when the right people are in it together.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for being part of this mission. The work you do every day matters more than words can say.

Will I be able to contact my family while in treatment?

This is one of the first things people ask, and it is a fair one.

The truth is, it depends on the program. Most residential treatment centers allow family contact, but the timing and format vary. Some have a communication blackout for the first week or two, especially in detox, to help you focus and stabilize. After that, many programs allow phone calls, visits, and even family therapy sessions.

The goal of any limitation is not to cut you off. It is to protect your focus during the most vulnerable part of recovery.

Recovery does not have to mean disappearing. It means getting the support you need so you can actually show up for the people you love.

This past weekend, James Sands BS CASAC T represented Valley Spring Recovery Center and showed up for our local community at the Spring Into Wellness 5K in Washington Township, NJ, right in our own backyard.

We had the honor of connecting with Mayor Peter Calamari and speaking with community members about the work we do every day at Valley Spring. Events like this are a reminder that recovery does not happen in isolation. It takes a community that shows up, asks questions, and opens its doors.
We were proud to be one of two treatment centers represented at this event, standing alongside Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and our neighbors and carrying our mission beyond our walls.

To everyone who stopped to talk with us, thank you. We are here, we are local, and we are committed to this community.

Valley Spring Recovery Center is proud to have participated in a community initiative alongside the New Jersey Recreation and Park Association and the New Jersey Swim Safety Alliance, collecting bathing suits for children in need so they can access swim lessons, camp programs, and water safety education.

This initiative is about more than swimwear. It is about creating access, promoting safety, and helping save lives.

As a mental health and trauma treatment center, Valley Spring understands that prevention and community wellness go hand in hand. During the event, James Sands had the opportunity to connect with Parks and Recreation supervisors to discuss Valley Spring's mental health, trauma, and workplace wellness services while building meaningful partnerships in our region.

Supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our communities is not just something we believe in. It is something we show up for.

How do I get past the shame?

Itโ€™s a question so many of us carry in silence.
, CEO, opens up about the moment he stopped letting shame run the show and what he found on the other side.
You are not your mistakes. You are what you do next.

x Valley Spring | Wellness in Recovery

Recovery is more than a destination. Itโ€™s a daily commitment to showing up for yourself, mind and body. We had the privilege of joining the incredible community Donofrio Fitness Mahwah for a health and wellness session built around movement, mindfulness, and the power of believing in your own potential.

To everyone at Valley Spring: your strength, your courage, and your energy in that room was everything. Keep going. You are worth every effort.
