Week 10: This Isn't Goodbye—It's Just the Beginning

"Everything is a win when the goal is experience"

Hey Hybrid Athletes,
As I'm writing this, I'm honestly in disbelief that it's already been 10 weeks! It feels like just yesterday we were talking about taking that first step, building consistency, and simply showing up. Now here we are at our final weekly check-in.
First, I want to say thank you.
Thank you for trusting me, believing in this program, supporting one another, and most importantly, investing in yourselves. Watching your growth over these last ten weeks has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had as a coach.
But before we go any further, I want to remind you of something:
When you reach the finish line of one goal, it's simply the starting line of another.
This program was never about completing ten weeks.
It was about building a foundation for a healthier, stronger, and more sustainable lifestyle.
And we're just getting started.

I also wanted to be transparent with all of you.
My original goal was to have the Hybrid Athlete app ready the moment this challenge ended. As life sometimes does, it threw me a few curveballs over the last several weeks. Between the fire department, the military, coaching, being a dog mom and life outside of fitness, I had to make a decision.
I could rush something out...
Or I could build something that truly serves this community.
I chose the second.
The app launch will be delayed by about two weeks.
Honestly, I think that's fitting.
One of the biggest lessons we've talked about throughout this challenge is learning to adapt.
Progress doesn't always happen on the timeline we expect—but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is adjust the plan without giving up on the goal.

One Last Thing...
The goal was never to finish ten weeks.
The goal was to become the kind of person who no longer needs a challenge to take care of themselves.
If these past ten weeks taught you anything, I hope it's this:
You are stronger than you think.
You are capable of more than you realize.
And remember...
If you have a body, you are an athlete.
This isn't goodbye.
It's simply the beginning.
I'm incredibly proud of every single one of you!
Now go keep becoming the person you worked so hard to become.
I'll see you inside the Hybrid app soon!

The workout that counts most is usually the one you almost skipped.

Not the workout when you’re motivated.

Not the workout when you have plenty of free time.

The one that matters most is often the one squeezed between meetings, kids, responsibilities, and everything else life throws at you.

Those are the days that test your habits.

Anyone can be consistent when life is easy.

The real challenge is showing up when you’re busy, stressed, tired, or overwhelmed.

Maybe the workout isn’t perfect.

Maybe it’s shorter than planned.

Maybe all you have time for is a walk.

That’s okay.

Because consistency isn’t built during ideal weeks.

It’s built during imperfect ones.

Coming off shift this morning—tired, worn down, running on fumes.

If you’re a first responder, military, or in any high-stress job… you get it.
Lack of sleep. Lack of control. Carrying things most people never see.

And the scary part?
Sometimes it wears you down without you even realizing it.

That’s why you have to refill your own cup.

For me, it’s movement.
Running clears my head.
Lifting builds me back up.
Yoga and breath work bring me back to baseline.
Eating foods that not only fuel & restore me but reduce inflammation.

It’s not just a workout.
It’s the one part of my day that’s mine.
No noise. No expectations. Just me showing up for me.

And here’s the truth—
movement isn’t about looking better.
It’s about coming back to your body…
and remembering what you’re actually capable of.

Because your potential? It’s not small.
It’s not limited.
But your mindset will either unlock it… or keep you stuck.

The way you talk to yourself matters.
Be someone you’d want in your corner.

You don’t need saving.
No one is coming to rescue you.

You have to be your own hero.

So show up messy.
Show up tired.
Show up anyway.

That 1% of your day you dedicate to yourself?
It changes everything.

Be 1% better today than you were yesterday.
That’s how you rebuild. That’s how you grow.
In the messy middle between you wanting to do what feels comfortable & trusting yourself to do hard things.
Keep putting in the effort, because you’re worth it❤️

We had the honor of celebrating Pop’s 97th birthday today! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

We took a trip down memory lane- Dundalk, Sparrows Point, and finished at his favorite place, Rocky Point golf course⛳️ A fun filled day of stories, laughter, and soaking in every bit of wisdom you shared🫶

Pop, what an incredible life you’ve lived. I feel so grateful to have witnessed the way you’ve loved your family, always putting us first, always showing up. You’ve shaped all of us in more ways than you probably even realize.

You are a man of strength, resilience, and quiet wisdom. Army strong through and through. The way you’ve overcome challenges, especially these past few years, just shows who you are at your core—nothing can knock you down.💪

Some of my best memories are with you—from golf outings to baseball games to you standing on the sidelines with that VHS camera, capturing everything. You’ve always been there. Always.

There truly aren’t enough words to describe how much you mean to me and our family. Your love is felt every single day, and we are so incredibly blessed to have you.

Happy 97th birthday, Pop. We love you more than you know!! 😘

Done is better than perfect.
1 mile warm up into 8x 400m repeats.
400m Best Effort 1:43

I didn’t feel like running this morning. I was tired, it was cold, the wind was brutal, and I had every excuse to skip it. But I showed up anyway. I got outside, leaned into the discomfort, and reminded myself that growth doesn’t happen inside your comfort zone.

Running has a way of humbling you. You can have a pace in mind, a distance in mind, a whole plan in your head—and then your body checks you real quick. But that doesn’t mean quit. It means meet yourself where you are. Breathe. Reset. Trust your training. Trust your body. Trust yourself.

That doesn’t mean push through pain until you injure yourself. It means learning the difference between discomfort and damage. It means warming up, fueling well, hydrating, recovering, and still choosing to show up on the days that feel messy.

These runs are teaching me that discomfort is temporary, but the confidence you build by not quitting carries into everything else. Every time you keep going, every time you choose to believe in yourself, you prove that you’re capable of more than you thought.

Keep showing up for yourself, especially on the hard days.
You are worth the effort.
You are worth the work.
And you are capable of far more than you think.

Throwback Thursday to our last shift workout 💪
90s gangster pose edition 😂

Getting a workout in on shift is a huge win in itself. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned when it comes to this job & working out is that fitness isn’t just about lifting or running- it needs to be functional, movements that are based on the job we do.

We’re expected to perform under high stress, carry heavy loads, and move efficiently in unpredictable environments.

That means training for strength, endurance, stability, and job specific movement.

Our workout from last shift was a goodie. Give it a try.

1 mile run for warm up into
5-10-15-20
• Cal row
• Single Arm DB chest press
• Single Arm DB row
• Single Arm DB Clean to press

Simple. Effective. Done.

Because in this line of work, taking care of your body isn’t optional—it’s part of the job.

We owe it to ourselves.
We owe it to our team.
We owe it to the people we serve.

Train with intention. Move with purpose.
Stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready.
1% better everyday is the motto 💪💪💪

A light 7mile Run on the trail today ✅

Simple reminder that done is better than perfect, you don’t need the ‘perfect’ plan to get started.

Just. Get. Moving. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Running has always been a HUGE outlet for me, not just because of the conditioning benefits but bc it’s the one part of the day where you’re showing up for yourself- no matter what you look or feel like you get it done. Even if you don’t feel like, even on the days where you can find every excuse not to, you still show up.

Showing up is half the battle.
Keep showing up for yourself everyday, whether that’s miles on the trail, or reps in the weight room.
It doesn’t have to last for hours, it could be just 15mins.
Do what you can with what you have and you’ll be stronger than you ever imagined.

Embrace the stress, embrace the struggle, embrace the challenge of sucking at something new. Get outside your comfort zone & love yourself every step of the way, because you’re worth it ❤️💪
