Boundaries aren't a wall. They're a door with a lock, and you decide when it opens.
When someone you love is struggling with addiction, you usually get handed two options: rescue them or cut them off. There's a whole middle ground most families never hear about.
"I love you, and I'm not giving you money." "You're welcome at dinner, sober." "I'll always pick up when you call. I won't cover for you at work."
A boundary isn't a punishment. It's you being honest about what you can carry, so you can stay in their life for the long haul.
