Nobody asks me this at the front desk. They should.
1. Wear SPF every single day. Not just when it's sunny. Not just at the beach. Every day, rain or shine, inside or out. UV exposure happens through windows, on cloudy days, on your commute. It is the single most effective thing you can do to slow visible aging. There is a good sunscreen for every budget.
2. Think about how you sleep. Side sleeping compresses the same areas of your face in the same direction every single night for years. If you are a side sleeper, a silk pillowcase reduces the friction significantly. A contour pillow designed for side sleepers can help too. Small change, long term difference.
3. Stop chasing individual lines and start thinking about your face as a whole. A line is a symptom. What causes it is years of movement, volume shift, collagen and elastin loss, and structural change happening underneath the surface. Treating the line without addressing what is driving it is why results never feel like enough.
4. Build a relationship with your skin before you need to. The patients I have worked with consistently over the years look the best. The follow the plan made specifically for them. Because they understood their skin early, made a plan, and followed through on it. Starting before something bothers you is always easier than correcting it after.
5. Find a provider who will tell you what you actually need, not just what you asked for. This one matters more than all the others.
The treatments help. The habits and the relationship you build with your care are what make them last. # #
