"Cold heart"/ "Cold Drink Heart"
Cold drinks may trigger atrial fibrillation (AF) in some people — and the mechanism is wild. 🧊❤️
Researchers believe ice-cold beverages can overstimulate the vagus nerve, abruptly altering the heart’s electrical activity. Another theory: because the esophagus sits directly against the left atrium, rapid gulps of cold liquid may mechanically irritate the heart itself.
Even more interesting:
* Episodes were more likely after exercise
* Fast “gulping” increased risk
* Slower sipping often reduced or eliminated symptoms
Translation: for some people, how you drink may matter as much as what you drink.
The heart-gut connection is far more powerful than most realize.
