Real talk, keeping this secret is getting harder by the day.

This community means everything to us. You are why we show up, why we keep growing, and why we keep dreaming bigger.

And this summer? We get to give something back that we think you've been waiting for.

Something big. Something bold. Something we are so proud to be bringing to Michigan.

We can't wait to share it with you. Stay close. 👀

Every person has layers worth understanding.

Human s*xuality is not defined by one feeling, one experience, or one identity. Like an onion, s*xuality is made up of many interconnected layers — including culture, relationships, emotions, beliefs, identity, attraction, behavior, and our deepest sense of self.

When we explore s*xuality with curiosity rather than judgment, we create space for self-awareness, healing, healthier relationships, and authentic connection. Understanding these layers can help us better understand ourselves and others with compassion and respect.

This visual offers a holistic way to think about s*xuality — not as something simple or one-dimensional, but as a deeply human experience shaped by both inner truth and lived experience.

You know that feeling of eating ice cream alone on your couch in your pajamas — savoring every single bite, completely in your own world? Delicious comes to my mind!!

No one is watching. No one to explain yourself to. Just you and something that brings you pure pleasure.

A kink or fe**sh can feel exactly like that.

Something private. Something deeply yours. Something that lights you up from the inside.

And then stigma walks in — and everything shifts.

I see this in my practice every single week. People who carry something they've never said out loud. A desire, a fantasy, a kink or fe**sh that has quietly lived in the shadows for years — sometimes decades.

What starts as discomfort hardens into shame. And shame, when it has nowhere to go, starts to look like control. Rigidity. A slow pulling away — from your partner, from intimacy, from yourself.

In relationships, this becomes its own kind of wound. Your partner senses the distance without knowing what's behind it. Transparency erodes. Closeness fades. And the isolation that follows isn't because of the desire — it's because the shame around it was never given space to breathe.

Kinks and fe**shes are far more common than the silence around them suggests. What's rare is having a place to actually talk about them — without judgment, without labels, without shame.

That place exists. And it can change everything. 🤍

I hear this ALL the time in my office.

People come in thinking they're broken, weird, or the only one struggling with intimacy, desire, or just... talking about s*x.

They're not. And neither are you.

S*x therapy isn't about what happens in the bedroom — it's about helping you feel more connected, more understood, and more like yourself.

I'm Gayle Shotkin, AASECT Certified S*x Therapist serving Metro Detroit — in person and virtually.

If you've been sitting with something you haven't been able to say out loud yet, my door is open.

"I thought I was the only one who felt lonely inside my own relationship."

Not the being-alone kind of lonely. The sitting-right-next-to-someone-and-still-feeling-miles-away kind.

It happens in long relationships. In new ones. In marriages that look perfectly fine from the outside. After babies, after loss, after years of just getting through life together.

Most people never say a word about it — because how do you explain that you love someone and still feel disconnected? How do you bring that up without it sounding like an accusation?

So instead, people go quiet. They tell themselves it's fine. They wait for it to get better on its own.

Sometimes it does. Often it doesn't.

That feeling of distance — emotional, physical, or both — is one of the most common things I work with. You are not broken. Your relationship is not hopeless. And you are absolutely not alone in this.

Intimacy is a skill. It can be learned, rebuilt, and deepened — at any age, at any stage.

But it starts with being willing to name it.

If any part of this resonated, I am here. Let's talk.

Licensed Therapist — S*xual Health & Intimacy | Private Practice Opportunity

Farmington Hills, MI | In-Person & Virtual | Competitive Flat Fee Per Session

S*xual Health and Counseling Services LLC is growing — and we are looking for the right clinician to grow with us.

We are seeking a licensed therapist (LMSW, LPC, LMFT, or LP) who is passionate about s*xual health, intimacy, and relationship wellness to join our collaborative practice space. This is a meaningful opportunity for a clinician who wants to do specialized, fulfilling work while maintaining full autonomy over their schedule and caseload.

What we offer:
✦ A competitive flat fee per client session
✦ In-person and virtual client options
✦ A collaborative network of trusted s*xual health providers with a strong, active referral community
✦ Shared practice space in Farmington Hills — use it as your professional home base
✦ The freedom to build and expand your own private practice within a supportive, established framework
✦ A niche, underserved specialty area with growing demand and deep community need

What we're looking for:
✦ A licensed therapist (LMSW, LPC, LMFT, or LP) in good standing in Michigan
✦ Experience or strong interest in s*xual health, intimacy, and/or relationship wellness
✦ Someone who values autonomy, collaboration, and doing meaningful work
✦ A clinician who is either building their private practice or looking to expand into specialized work
✦ Bonus: Already AASECT Certified as a S*x Therapist — or actively working toward certification

We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice — which means more time with clients, more clinical freedom, and more room to do the kind of deep, individualized work that actually moves people forward.

This is a flexible, autonomous arrangement designed for clinicians who want the support of an established practice without sacrificing their independence.

If this sounds like the kind of work you have been looking for, I would love to connect.

Part of healing desire mismatch is changing the story we tell ourselves.

When the narrative becomes “It’s expected of me” or “They want something from me,” the body hears pressure—even if no one intends it. Desire doesn’t grow under obligation; it grows with choice.

Shifting the story matters:
From expectation → choice
From being wanted for s*x → being wanted for connection

When the narrative softens, the pressure eases.
And desire has room to breathe again.
