The way we communicate with our kids often starts with the way we communicate with each other.
Our children are always watching. They’re learning how to handle frustration, show respect, apologize, listen, and love by watching the adults in their lives.
If we want our kids to speak kindly, we have to model kindness. If we want them to feel heard, we have to make sure we’re hearing each other, too. The way we treat our partner sets the tone for our home.
Treat your partner the way you’d want to be treated. Speak with respect, even during disagreements. Communicate with patience, not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s hard.
Our kids may not remember every conversation, but they’ll remember how those conversations made them feel and what they taught them about relationships.
The example we set today becomes the foundation they carry into tomorrow. ❤️
