𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗰 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙖, 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙘𝙡𝙚.
The study analyzed data from almost 𝟯𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 in a UK Biobank over a 𝟭𝟬-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱. It compared continuous users to participants who had never used these cholesterol-lowering meds. In the continuous users, even after adjusting for other variables, the study found a 𝟳𝟯% 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 in arms and legs and a 𝟮𝟱% 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 over time.
𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲:
If possible, use 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 to regulate cholesterol.
If statins are needed, 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 over time and 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 to help preserve muscle!
