Fred Rogers is one of my all-time favorite human beings. Speaking to children with genuine kindness, respect, emotional intelligence, and without condescension has left an incredible legacy.

Also, not to name drop, but I met the real Mr. McFeely and Henrietta Pussycat so honestly I feel extremely qualified to speak on this topic. 😂

Birth work is a job of witnessing miracles: the magical and sacred moment of a brand new human coming into the world.

Across cultures and centuries, babies born en caul have been seen as something special; in parts of Europe, they were believed to be protected from drowning, destined for a life guided by intuition and luck. In some Caribbean traditions, they’re thought to carry spiritual sight or heightened connection to the unseen. Sailors once treasured cauls as talismans of protection. Families kept them, honored them, passed down the stories.

Watching a baby be born still cocooned in their safe little bubble feels like watching the veil between worlds thin, just for a second. Miraculous.

🚢 Heading out tomorrow for a little professional development and sunshine so obviously the nails needed to match the energy.

🦩 Fun fact I’m obsessed with: flamingos of both sexes lose their pink after their babies hatch. Similarly, raising tiny humans will drain the life (and color) right out of you… but it comes back!

📱 I’ll still be in touch while I’m away (because of course I will), but if something urgent comes up, I’ve got a trusted backup doula ready to jump in.💜

Yesterday, my business was mistakenly included on a local list circulating online. I did not create that list, and I have no control over how widely it has been shared.

I want to clarify something simply and directly.

I am a doula. My work is to provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I do not ask clients about their political affiliation, and I do not screen services based on how someone votes.

Families choose support providers based on comfort and trust. I have always been transparent about my values so that adults can make informed decisions about who they invite into one of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives.

If you have worked with me, you know how I show up: professional, steady, respectful, and deeply committed to the families I serve.

That has not changed. 💜

I’m deeply committed to snacks, honesty, and not pretending I have it all together. I believe most of us are just doing our best with the information we have.

I romanticize small things. I overthink medium things. I stay very calm during big things.

I love a plan. I also love a flexible backup plan. I really love when people feel more confident after talking something through.
