Charlie was admitted to The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois after a stroke left him with no movement on his left side and requiring a mechanical lift for transfers.

Over time, Charlie's determination helped him make remarkable progress. He regained the ability to bathe and dress himself and was walking more than 200 feet with a walker by discharge.

Tiffany was admitted to The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois after a stroke, cardiac arrest, a below-the-knee amputation and other health complications. Through hard work, determination and the support of her care team, she made remarkable progress.

Jean had a clear goal during rehabilitation after a stroke last summer — to go on a planned vacation — and she achieved that goal! “I visited the 50th Anniversary Sisters Quilt Show in Sisters, Oregon; Pier 39 in San Francisco; and Boise, Idaho,” Jean said. “It was a great trip, thanks to your team. This summer we took a road trip to Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. I am so appreciative of all the things that were done for me while I was there at The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois.”

The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois will host a continuing education unit course on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event will take place at 2351 Frank Scot Parkway East, Shiloh, IL.

The course will be presented by Ryan Duncan, PT, DPT, MSCI, associate professor of physical therapy and neurology at Washington University. A complimentary two hour, on-site continuing education event accredited for physical and occupational therapists. Dinner will be provided, and attendance is limited to 30 participants.
