We are thrilled to share that this is our second year partnering with the Fort Zumwalt School District and the local Lions Club for their wonderful See to Learn program! 🍎

Throughout this initiative, dedicated volunteers conduct vision screenings for students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Catching vision issues early makes a world of difference in a child’s learning journey! If a screening flags any concerns, that information is promptly shared with the school nurse and parents so the child can get the care they need.

We are so proud to support our local students and help ensure they can see clearly to learn, grow, and succeed! 📚

🐾🧡 Something PAW-sitive is coming this November! 🧡🐾

We’re excited to introduce our Grateful Paws Supply Drive! As the colder winter months approach, local animal shelters need extra support to ensure the animals in their care have the food, supplies, and comfort they need. We’ll be collecting donations to support Lucky K9 and Tenth Life Cat Rescue to help them prepare for the season ahead.
Every donation, big or small, can make a difference in the lives of animals who depend on these organizations for care and safety. ❤️

Summer’s over, but UV protection isn’t! 🎃

Did you know sun protection for your eyes is just as important throughout the year as it is in the summer?
You might think scary season is all about ghosts and ghouls, but you know what’s really scary? A pinguecula! 👻👁️
A pinguecula is a yellowish bump on the white of the eye caused by sun damage, wind, and dryness—and the best way to prevent one is by wearing 100% UV-blocking sunglasses year-round.

We wanted to remind our wonderful patients that our office will be closed from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on October 13th for our monthly staff meeting.

Please note that we will be open from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm for emergencies only as Dr. Steven Lee, the Ophthalmologist we go through for cataract surgeries, will be doing pre-op appointments.

👁️💙 Happy World Sight Day! 🌎

Every October, World Sight Day shines a spotlight on the importance of eye care and what it means to have vision care that is accessible, available, and affordable to all.

Nearly everyone on the planet will experience an eye health issue during their lifetime, yet more than 1 billion people worldwide still lack access to the eye care services and treatments they need.

The good news? Up to 80–90% of vision loss is preventable or treatable through interventions such as prescription glasses, early detection and treatment, and procedures like cataract surgery.

World Sight Day is a reminder to and prioritize your vision. Regular eye exams can help detect vision problems and eye diseases early, while healthy vision plays an important role in education, employment, independence, and overall quality of life.

💙 This World Sight Day, let’s celebrate the gift of sight and work toward a world where everyone has access to the eye care they deserve!

Myopia is a disease: Early Detection and Treatment Matter

The American Medical Association now backs formally classifying myopia as a disease. That matters because myopia is not simply blurry distance vision or a need for stronger glasses. It is a progressive eye disease that can increase the risk of serious eye problems later in life.

The takeaway for parents: detect myopia early, monitor whether it is progressing, and ask about treatment options designed to slow it down.
