Please welcome Dr. Leticia Cuellar, DMD to Midland Oral Surgery & Implant Centers! 👋

Today marks Dr. Cuellar's first day with our team. She'll be seeing patients at our Western Springs office, with clinical interests in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, facial trauma, oral pathology, and orthognathic surgery.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Cuellar earned a BS in Biology from Faulkner University while playing four years of collegiate basketball on a full athletic scholarship. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Carle Health, a Level 1 trauma center in Central Illinois.

Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, food, and sports, and is very obsessed with her dog Minnie.

Do you need to go to the ER if you knocked your tooth out?

If you can still breathe, swallow, and stop the bleeding, you probably don't need the ER. You need an oral surgeon.

So your wisdom teeth are out. Now what?

The first 24 hours are the most important. Rest, ice the outside of your jaw, and stick to soft, cool foods (think yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, smoothies without seeds or a straw). Skip anything crunchy, spicy, or hot for a few days.

Follow your surgeon's aftercare instructions. That is how you avoid dry socket and get back to normal faster.
