It’s really important for parents to get a little break while their baby is feeding. This set up allowed the parents to monitor feeding while their hands are free to do other things. Staying close, but able to help siblings with meal time.

commemorates June 19, 1865, the date the last enslaved people were freed in Galveston, Texas — over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

As occupational therapy practitioners, we understand that freedom must include equitable access to meaningful occupations for all. Juneteenth reminds us of the core principle of occupational justice: ensuring everyone can participate in valued activities regardless of race, ethnicity, or background.

AOTF is closed today to observe the Juneteenth holiday.
