Earlier this year, First Recovery was awarded op**te abatement grant funding from the Anderson County Commission to provide transportation for individuals seeking recovery helping fill critical gaps and eliminate barriers to care. Since day one, our mission has been to remove obstacles while offering faith, help, and hope.

​Today, we are grateful to share that we’ve officially met our original transportation goals for the quarter, providing rides to meetings, treatment, interviews, court, medical appointments, and more!

​We were recently asked by a community partner to transport someone to treatment directly from the Anderson County Detention Facility. When she got into the car, she confessed how anxious she had been, worrying her ride wouldn’t show up. But when she found out First Recovery was coming to pick her up, everything changed.

​"My anxiety was lifted because I knew you would be here."

​Thanks be to God, our community knows that when we say we’re here to help, we mean it. We pray that individuals in a season where trust is hard can always count on us. We are grateful and honored to serve God and the community we love.

We are so grateful for First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, TN newest ministry, Shear Love! ✂️ This ministry provides haircuts to our First Recovery friends each week before our speaker meeting. Thanks be to God for those faithful people who say yes to God's calling.

Evening Grace Service Announcement ⚠️ 📢 🚨

Join us this Sunday in the Chapel First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, TN at 6:00 p.m. for Evening Grace.

We will dive into Step 5 ("Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs") and examine James 5:16: "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed."

​Matt Holder will lead a reflection about how fulfilling our mission of making disciples and transforming the world requires the church to shift its focus from being a courtroom that judges and condemns to a hospital that offers healing, support, and hope to everyone in need.

This service is for anyone in need of Grace. We would love to have you join us! If you need a ride please reach out to Matt or Brandi and we will do our best to get you to the service.
