NBC-HWCs: Do you really need another certification?
It’s a question worth asking.
Health coaches are being sold a certification for everything lately.
Hormone coaching. Gut health coaching. Trauma coaching. Stress coaching. Mindset coaching. Behavior change coaching.
Some are valuable. Some are pricey. And some just sound official because the sales page said so.
Before spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on another certification, ask:
→ Is this actually accredited, or just “approved” by the company selling it?
→ Is it recognized by a reputable organization?
→ Does it align with the NBHWC Scope of Practice?
→ Will it make me a better coach, or just give me more letters to squeeze into my bio?
As NBC-HWCs, we already hold a respected credential.
What many coaches need next is not always another certification. Sometimes, we need sharper skills.
Skills like facilitating stronger group coaching sessions, creating engagement, managing group dynamics, and supporting behavior change in a group setting.
Or learning how to coach autistic clients with more awareness, flexibility, respect, and client-centered support.
That is exactly why I created focused CE courses through VivaWell Coaching, including:
Group Coaching for Health and Wellness Coaches
Coaching for Autistic Clients

These courses are built for real coaching conversations, not just certificate collecting.
A good certification can absolutely be worth it.
But another badge does not automatically make you a better coach.
Better coaching comes from sharper skills, stronger presence, ethical practice, and knowing how to help clients feel seen, respected, and empowered.
Before you buy the next shiny certification, ask yourself:
Do I need another title, or do I need better tools?
