Our Monday Rosary Prayer meeting is getting bigger and we are loving it! We meet every Monday at 9:30 am. If you would like to join, feel free to come down to The Glen at Oak Ridge (200 Bus Terminal Rd. 865-425-9966) and sign in at the front desk. We meet in the library on the second floor.

Our Men’s Club enjoyed a mid-morning get together with donuts and coffee. We learned and laughed with our “Which came first” game and some of the answers surprised us. Here is one example: Which came first: Thomas Jefferson takes office, the Statue of Liberty comes to America, or nitroglycerin is invented? We choose nitroglycerin. WRONG! Thomas Jefferson took office in 1801 as the third president of the United States. Have a great day and smiles to all!

The Ladies Circle celebrated National Annie Oakley Day with a rootin, tootin, sharp-shooting contest. We laughed, learned shoot Admit Oakley, and discovered a few sharp shooters of our own. Carolyn Rucker hit the most targets and Pat Clark earned second place. Birth winners received beautiful collectors China dolls! Everyone had so much fun-even if none of us were an “Annie Oakley”.

Today was the perfect day for an ice cream! Our residents and staff enjoyed an ice cream from the Lolli and Bobo’s I’ve Cream Truck-at no cost!

This was the luau we had on the 6th of August in the meadows with the family. Had a great time and great food Thank you staff for all the hard work that you do .

This month”s Resident Recipe was given by Mrs. Carolyn Rucker. It is called Georgia Cornbread Cake, but do not let the name fool you. It is a sweet masterpiece of brown sugar and pecans. Thank you Carolyn, it was delicious! If you’re a resident or family member and have a recipe that you would love to taste again, give the recipe to Nikole and she will make it happen.
