Help Support Better Medicare Access to Chiropractic Care
Did you know that Medicare’s chiropractic coverage has essentially remained unchanged since 1972?
More than 50 years ago, chiropractors were recognized as physicians under Medicare—but Medicare coverage was limited to just one chiropractic service: manual manipulation of the spine (an adjustment).
Today, Medicare still does not cover many of the services that are routinely part of evaluating and caring for a patient in a chiropractic office, including examinations, x-rays and other services that may fall within a chiropractor’s state-authorized scope of practice.
H.R. 539 — The Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act
This bipartisan legislation would modernize Medicare so seniors can have greater access to chiropractic services and more freedom to choose the healthcare providers they trust.
Why does this matter?
• Greater access to conservative, non-drug, non-surgical care
• More healthcare choices for Medicare patients
• Better recognition of the services chiropractors are licensed to provide
• Medicare coverage that better reflects the role chiropractic already plays in other federal and private healthcare systems
H.R. 539 already has strong bipartisan support in Congress. Now, your voice can help move it forward.
