What a way to spend the day at Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc.!

Today was filled with games, an awesome dunk tank from our friends at RM Rentals - Weddings and Events, ice cream floats, water balloons, water blasters, and endless laughter. It was the perfect opportunity for everyone to let loose, have fun, and make memories together.

As the fun came to an end, we also said goodbye to our Wellness and Recovery Center Manager, Maddison, whose eight-year journey with Garrett County Lighthouse has come to a close. We wish her all the best as she begins her next chapter.

As one chapter ends, another begins. Please join us in welcoming Jessica Uphole as our new Wellness and Recovery Center Manager. We look forward to all that’s ahead.

Thank you to everyone who helped make today such a special and memorable celebration! πŸ’šπŸ’¦πŸ¦

Today the Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. Wellness and Recovery Center took kindness to the Town of Oakland, Maryland!

Service users and staff spent the morning visiting some of the incredible organizations that make our community stronger, including Appalachian Crossroads, Dennett Rehab Center, Maryland Wellness, Garrett County Health Department and even our beloved GCLH! With permission, we transformed their sidewalks into colorful reminders of hope by writing positive affirmations, encouraging messages, and cheerful artwork.

Thank you to each organization for welcoming us and allowing our participants to share a little extra sunshine today. We hope our messages brought as many smiles to your day as this experience brought to ours.

Together, we can continue creating a community where kindness is seen, shared, and celebrated. πŸ’šπŸŒˆβ˜€οΈ

Sometimes the best memories are made during the simplest moments... and here at the Wellness and Recovery Center we believe healing happens when recovery and FUN go hand in hand.

Due to a short week, Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. Wellness and Recovery Center enjoyed a week of creativity, making DIY crystals before heading to Devlers for ice cream, laughter, and plenty of memorable photos. The joy shared throughout the week with one another was a reminder of the importance of connection, friendship, and community.

As the Wellness and Recovery Center prepares for a season of change with the upcoming departure of its long-time Wellness and Recovery Center Manager, Maddison Shaffer, moments like these serve as a reminder that the relationships built here extend far beyond any one day or chapter. While change can be bittersweet, it also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the people who have touched our lives, encouraged our growth, and helped create lasting memories.

The laughter shared over ice cream, the creativity expressed through art, and the friendships formed along the way are what make this program so special. We are grateful for every moment and look forward to carrying those memories into the future. πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

Service users sampled mystery foods and drinks without seeing what they were and tried to guess each item using taste, texture, and smell alone. From Nutella, peanut butter, and maraschino cherries to Spam, lemonade powder, and more, there were lots of laughs, surprised reactions, and some very confident guesses that definitely changed after the reveal πŸ˜‚

A fun way to encourage socialization, sensory exploration, and trying something new together πŸ’š
