About 15 years ago I heard white supremacy named as a spiritual dysfunction and disconnection, not just a political system, not just a set of policies. I didn’t fully understand it at the time but I am slowly starting to as I continue to do my own healing.

That insight came from Dr. Enoch Page, a transgender anthropologist and one of the founding voices of whiteness studies, whose work on decolonizing anthropology gave language to something many of us had felt but couldn’t fully name.

When we understand white supremacy as a cosmological rupture, as a severing from sacred obligations to land, ancestors, and community, it changes how we understand the harm it produces. It doesn’t just hoard power. It erases other worlds. It fears the sacred feminine. It pathologizes gender fluidity that Indigenous peoples have honored for generations. It replaces relational intelligence with hierarchy and domination. It fears connection.

This carousel is an offering in that tradition of naming.

Healing is not just therapy. It’s remembering who we were before the interruption.

Meet Melina Juárez Pérez is accepting clients at Ollin Therapy.
Melina is a heart-led therapist whose work is rooted in decolonial, liberatory, and feminist frameworks. She centers the lives, health, and happiness of Chicanx, Latinx & BIPoC communities — particularly fat, disabled, q***r, and women folk.
Her approach weaves together Indigenous theory, creative modalities (collaging, oracle mapping, art & meditation), and a deep belief that healing must honor who you are and where you come from.
Free to low-cost services available.
If you’ve been waiting for a therapist who truly gets your world — Melina is here.

These two maestros highly influenced me during graduate school. They helped me balance the Western-centric curriculum that was being taught. They changed the way I understand healing and the way I understand myself.
Martín-Baró taught me that the pain our communities carry is a respond to oppression. It’s a response to real, ongoing harm. Duran taught me that the wound goes deeper than the mind. It lives in the spirit, and it travels through generations.
Their work lives in how I show up for my clients, for every circle, every training.
