Daughter of Samoa

Daughter of Samoa I'm a birth and postpartum doula and Yoga teacher. I teach yoga all levels of Yoga asana, including prenatal and postpartum yoga, Yin.

Find out more about Leonora's yoga classes and birthwork along with special guest teachers and wisdom keepers coming through to share about pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum and how to support birthing people. I am also a continued student, practitioner and teacher of meditation, mantra, Yoga history and philosophy -- all rooted in Yoga as a soterological practice. I teach and co-own Barefoot

Movement, a Yoga studio located in West Oakland, Ca. As a birth and postpartum doula, I work to help each client envision and experience the kind of birth they deserve, helping to inform, prepare and support them throughout their pregnancy journey into empowerment as a parent.

BIPOC parents carry deep sources of strength and cultural wisdom that support them through life, even as they face challenging transitions such as becoming a parent. This group offers a supportive space to connect with others on a similar journey within the first year of parenthood.

Together, we’ll explore the full spectrum of emotions and experiences without judgment, urgency, or pressure to “do motherhood right,” recognizing that safety, choice, and empowerment are essential.

🗓Wednesdays, October 14 - November 18, 2026 from 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm

This is an all levels prenatal yoga class, focused on grounding into the body, and breath. We’ll use a gentle flow of movement to increase strength, flexibility, and circulation overall, and work on common aches with the pregnant body such as pain in the low back, hips, pelvis and ribs. The goal of each class is to support each student in the present moment of pregnancy, but also prepare the body for the upcoming birth and time postpartum. Classes have suggested modifications and props to accommodate the various stages of pregnancy.

Come to experience an evening prenatal class with Victoria Liu as instructor and Leonora as observer and teacher trainer. Victoria is a birth doula, sound meditation practitioner, and kundalini yoga teacher. Daughter of Samoa students can use their memberships as well as class packs to attend and help support the studio and this budding perinatal yoga teacher. Students are welcome to stay afterwards and share their experience with Victoria as prenatal yoga instructor.

Our first Yin Yoga + Soundbath Savasana in Crockett was such a big hit, we're doing it again!

Daughter of Samoa is branching out in locations for a Yin Yoga + Soundbath experience! Come to Crockett, Ca. 25 miles north of Oakland, Ca., original land of the Carquin indigenous peoples, one of the 8 distinct language tribes of the Ohlone and experience what is now, the small town vibe. We will meet at SolHaus, a BIPOC, woman-owned micro-event space, owned and operated by Angelica O.

The Yin practice will focus on the earth element and late summer with the spleen and stomach meridians for healthy digestion, transporting and transforming our nourishment, taking food and turning it into Qi. The spleen connects to the physical organs of the spleen and the stomach. We'll target the yang part of the body in the quadricep area and inner leg along with the torso. We are aiming to move stagnation in the body and in particular, the digestive system by targeting the areas along these meridians.

The Yin class will be followed by a 45 minute soundbath savasana with Victoria Liu for a deep submersion in sound healing and connection. We’ll use sound as a tool to enter a meditative state and a deep savasana. Using pure tone frequencies and instruments that both relax and awaken the senses, you may attune to different parts of your system that are normally harder to access. Sound offers a gentle approach, to meet ourselves with softness, while also offering an invitation for the body to shift and release what may no longer serve us.

Come early to set up a spot for yourself. We will have all necessary props there and extra mats if you do not bring one. Dress comfortably, bring a friend, your water, and an open heart and mind.

We will also be providing light snacks and a beverage for you to enjoy after class. Feel free to stay afterwards - to gather, chat, imbibe and snack!
