It was a fun day presenting today at the “5th Annual Virtual Eating Disorder in Sport Workshop: A Treatment Playbook for Providers, Treating the Adolescent and Young Adult Athlete!” Thank you to Riley Nickols Mind Body Endurance and Becca McConville Rebecca McConville for having me!

I covered how I conduct the nutritional assessment in teen athletes, setting goal weights, weight pressures, rest, FBT, and how to renourish athletes back to health using the Plate-by-Plate Approach®.

There was a stellar line up with AthleatMD opal.movement Samantha Arsenault Livingstone 🙌😍❤️🔥!

So excited for Dr. Lauren Hartman ’s book published by to be out in the world! It was an honor to endorse this book, and discuss it along the way.

Here is my endorsement:

Family-Based Treatment (FBT) empowers parents to support their loved ones right from home, making them an essential part of the recovery process. The Plate-by-Plate Approach® incorporates FBT principles in both How to Nourish Your Child Through an Eating Disorder and How to Nourish Yourself Through an Eating Disorder, offering a compassionate, no-counting way to rebuild trust with food.

We are exciting to sponsor this upcoming training for providers in ED treatment!

Family-Based Treatment (FBT) is a research-supported intervention for eating disorders in adolescents, but it remains underutilized because few providers are trained in it.

FBT positions the family as a central part of the treatment team, supporting recovery at home and reducing reliance on higher levels of care as an entry point. When providers understand its principles, earlier, more coordinated care becomes possible.

EDPEN’s programs teach FBT-informed care across disciplines: medical, mental health, and nutrition. Our Spring Training (April 13–14, Tucson) includes dedicated FBT content for each provider track.

⭐️What do you need to feel your best?
For some, it might be:
-Eating enough and regularly
-Time alone, space
-Rest, quiet, or less screen time
-Connection with others
-Joyful, non-compulsive movement (if cleared)
-Time outside
-Laughter

There are a lot of things that help us feel grounded. And when some of these start to disappear, it’s easy feel off - reduced mood, energy, poor body image, increased stress, return of eating disorder symptoms…

Everyone’s “wheel” looks different.

⭐️What do you need to feel your best?

Congratulations to on the recent release of her book, “A Woman’s Guide to Menopause, Body Image, and Emotional Well-being at Midlife” by . I was honored to contribute quotes and content to this excellent, evidenced based, ESSENTIAL resource for all women (and their loved ones). As the sole author on this book, Signe did not have to worry about us “voting out” her jokes this time….and she nailed it, this book is both informative AND funny.
