She received her Master’s of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Aimee has a special interest in women’s health, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. She has trained as a doula and taken pregnancy and birth classes with Raven Lang, OMD. She has also traine

d extensively with Claudia Citkovitz, L.Ac., in labor and delivery acupuncture. Before discovering Chinese medicine, Aimee studied and worked in psychology. She treasures the connections that Chinese medicine recognizes between our mind/spirit and our overall health and well-being. When she’s not doing acupuncture, Aimee loves hiking, practicing qi gong, watching films, brunching, and enjoying life as much as possible. Services include:

Today is World Preeclampsia day. I didn’t know this until a patient told me!

As prenatal acupuncturists, we see preeclampsia and high blood pressure that is being monitored for risk of preeclampsia in our clinic. We will work on lowering blood pressure, helping fluid metabolism (proteinuria and swelling) and strengthening your overall constitution. We also support the nervous system and help to relieve stress, and anything else that’s coming up in pregnancy. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can work really well here.

Interesting research came out of Sweden recently that preeclampsia risk doubles with poor s***m quality, in particular DNA fragmentation of s***m - the study was done on IVF pregnancies. S***m health matters for more than just getting pregnant! We can help with that too on the preconception side.

Chinese herbs in the garden! What a treat to have Jin Yin Hua, Japanese Honeysuckle, growing in our field. It smells so heavenly.

Jin Yin Hua is harvested for Chinese medicinal purposes right before it flowers or just as it does - all that potential - but for us, we planted it to cover the chicken coop and to get to smell the amazing fragrance it gives off.

A clear heat and resolve toxicity herb, it’s commonly used to clear wind heat and toxicity which can manifest as a sore throat. It’s also used to treat swellings and lesions and abscesses and heat toxins in and on the body. 🔥

As acupuncturists in California, we are aka herbalists. At our office we use granule formulas but working with the raw herbs is something we spend years doing. It’s so comforting to be connected fo these plants!!

Your East Bay Acupuncture team spent the day together yesterday celebrating 2025 and setting intentions for 2026. We had so much fun getting to connect in person and talk acupuncture, Chinese medicine, fertility and pregnancy together.

We work as a collaborative team here at East Bay Acupuncture and we mostly work on different days to give you more availability which means we don’t always get to see each other in person as much as we would like. We did get to enjoy for some foot reflexology sessions and eat lunch one of our faves in the neighborhood.

We’ve all been licensed acupuncturists for a good long while. Laura Stropes has been an acupuncturist since 1998, Nadia Moredo since 2017 and myself (Aimee Ruiz) since 2012. You get a lot of care and experience when you pick our Oakland acupuncture clinic. And we are so honored to support you!
