Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is proud to welcome Dr. Reza Farhangfar as co-director of our RespiraCare pulmonary rehabilitation program. Dr. Farhangfar brings expertise in pulmonology, sleep medicine, and pulmonary critical care as he joins Dr. Rakesh Sharma and Dr. Malwinder Singh in supporting patients with complex respiratory needs.

At Oakland Rehab, specialized care means understanding the right program, pathway, and support for each patient.

Our team recently took part in advanced training led by VP of Specialized Services, Tricia Heller, and Regional Director of Specialty Services, Donna Agulis. Together, we explored the physicians supporting , and , the distinct care pathways within each program, and how different diagnoses and recovery needs align with the right specialized support.

From helping patients breathe easier to rebuilding strength, mobility, and independence, each program provides a targeted approach to recovery.

Meet Parul Desai, RRT/NPS, Oakland Rehab’s full-time Respiratory Therapist and the driving force behind our and PIC specialty programs.

With nearly 10 years on our team and more than 40 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Parul has devoted her career to helping patients breathe easier and live more fully.

“Honestly, it’s the little moments that get me,” Parul says. “Watching someone take a deep breath without struggling for the first time in weeks, or seeing them walk down the hall a little stronger than yesterday, that’s why I do this. It never gets old.”

We’re proud to spotlight Parul and the expertise, encouragement, and heart she brings to Oakland each day!

A new way to celebrate teamwork, growth, and support!

We are excited to launch our Care Champion Program, a special initiative designed to recognize the dedication of our new team members while celebrating the mentors who help guide them along the way.

Through the program, new employees receive the training, encouragement, and support they need during their first 90 days, while Champion Mentors play an important role in helping them feel welcomed, confident, and connected to our team.
